Here, all my fellow downhill bikers can discuss things like upcoming dh races, bike help, and advice.

I'm in Salt Lake City, So I ride all the Utah Downhill Race Series races. They take place at Sundance, Pomerelle, Brian Head, and Wolf Creek. I ride a 2011 Giant Glory 1.

SO ns... Discuss.

I live in NY with pretty much no good DH, so I only get out a few times a year when I have time to travel. Here's my Socom build; I opted for a single crown so it's easier to ride on AM trails around here.

I ride primairly downhill and freeride. But I love to dirt jumo, do north shore bridges and ride trials. When I get an opportunity, a 5-8 hour cross crountry ride always puts me at peace.

I really want to get into downhill. Does anybody have any suggestions on bikes or should i find a place to rent one to make sure i like it?

haven't gone downhill for a couple years now but I used to be really into it... had a 2009 kona stinky deluxe with boxxer teams and a Giant STP SS for DJ's. Downhilling is actually one of the funnest things around if you can do it regularly.

sixsixone evo pads are super comfy for long rides, and i would even consider the kyle strait pads (now called rage) if you're doing heavy am.

I always just assumed this was to give you more grip in the front to make it harder to wash out the front on turns.

IF he is talking about Dh 29er.... well they don't exist yet for the public, but XC riding with a 29er.. it's fun!

I race the full Quebec cup of DH as well as a couple Ontario and Canada cups. Racing is actually the best time ever. I like riding XC too.

I used to race Downhill. I was rubbish though and placed last all the time so i stopped enjoying it as much. Decided to buy a camera and give filming a shot. Really enjoyed it and now i go to as many races as possible and film. Riding in Scotland is amazing and the race series is top notch.

na man no troll here, its like whippn a bus through tree's, but yes xc is ok but then again i have not mastered this whale of a bike yet.

I would love to own a downhill bike, I rented one this summer for a couple days, and it was awesome.

I race cross country on my specialized rockhopper and I just bought a carbon stumpjumper frame from eBay to rebuild that bike on. I also built a DJ last year and I am starting riding that a bit more

i used to i had a 08 kona stinky upgraded truvativ and ogio parts but i sold it for cheap and got New lifes and bindings

i use to ride all the time. not many friends dh now so i dont any more but such a fun time. im on the east coast been to deiablo fr park a few times its so sick. vermont has some good shit too.

Here's one of the short self-filmed clips from Green River last winter...

Aside from the one line I rode in Virgin clip, the rest of the big mtn. clips are on pinkbike along with a bunch of local riding around here in slc that you might find entertaining.

I'm selling my mint condition 2009 Kona Stinky Deluxe if anyone's interested. I can ship but would prefer to sell to someone in BC

Lucky bastard, the only dual crown bike I ever had was a stinky. Here's an old edit with mine (first seg) and my lil brother, 14 at the time, on his (starts at 4:07). Basically all those elevations, jumps and that DH trail at the very end were around our house growing up, gone now though. Those Boxxer Teams must have been so amazing. Really jealous of the quality equipment.

that looks wild. ive been meaning to ride green river but havent gotten it done. is that up north of town by the price river gorge? do you just drive around till you find a line you like or are there a few established lines people stick to?

Winter park is so damn pretty in the summer. I did some xc riding near frasier last summer and it was awesome. I also got to ride a FS bike for the first time and it felt crazy good (going from a shitty hardtail with a suntour fork to a Trek Rumblefish). Definitely want to try downhill at trestle next summer. They have pretty good prices on couple year old DH rentals in the village so if I make enough money I might buy one.

yeah that was back when I was really into it and good so I spent all my time and money on biking stuff. Sucks now though since I never have time to go up to whistler in the summer

It's 50 miles north of Moab right where 15 meets 70. Basically there's a bunch of service roads that go out into the desert. There's two zones that are really popular that basically every professional quality Green River seggy/edit you see is in the same zones... except for Where the Trail Ends, some of their stuff is a bit off to the side. Just go out and explore. Don't cross any fences because that's private land. There's plenty out there, even a bunch I've found that hasn't been ridden yet and some that hasn't been ridden in 7-8 years.
