Downfalls of fks bindings?

I have tried searching for info related to downfalls of the fks bindings. I have so far come up with fks 14 have plastic toes that are still durable but fk18's have metal toes. I cant remember where i saw it but i have heard that it can be difficult rentry into fks binders if you lose a ski in the glades in some decent snow, any insight? I am in the market for new binders and have basically narrowed it down to fks or some jesters. I Hate bindings with shitty entry, so this could kill the deal for fks atm. Local shop has jester pros and fks18's at 399, so its between the both of them. I ride normally right around 12/14 din on current set ups.

Again, so if this is a repost, i tried search barring a few times and couldnt really pin point a good search word to find some threads related.
 
Yeah they're different to get into. It's more of a pull than a step in. Some love it, some hate it. Regardless though the 18s are superior to the markers. And I ride markers too. The 18s are like literally bombproof. I'd say for ultimate piece of mind get those. They're a safer release and way more durable.
 
the fks isn't hard to put on, so don't let that discourage you. the fks is the best binding hands down. i ride look p18's, which are the same binding and they are great. definitely go with the fks.
 
IMHO there are only two downsides related to a Pivot/FKS binder, both related to entry. Because the heel piece pivots, sometimes it will get turned around if you bail or it won't be sitting quite right and you have to spin it around and line it up to click in. Also, if the heel is up it is a little harder to get down to be able to click in, again because of the pivot. You can't just stamp on it with your boot, you need to pick up the ski and press the heel down by hand, usually.

That being said, they are the best, most secure, trustworthy binding that I have ever ridden and I've mad all different models of high end Marker, Salomon and Look binders. Sure, it might be a little more difficult to step in to, but when you do click in it is the best feeling. It feels like my boot is bolted straight to my ski with the amount of control and feel that I have. Plus, they hold up great over time and I have never had any problems with them releasing when they shouldn't or staying on when they should release. If I had to make the same choice you did, FKS/Pivot wins everyday of the week hands down.
