Attached is proof of said near death, I can’t get these rails down for the life of me so I’m gonna throw up some clips of me dying (disclaimer none of my friends ski and I never did freestyle as a kid so I have no one to help me besides NS)

oh dude you're so close in that first one. looks like you just got spooked on the last section. stay locked on, lean forward, and suck those knees up as you hit the flat section and you'll hardly notice it go by

lean forward!!! you have this 100% you're just letting the rail convince you that you're scared at the last second

guess commitment is the issue, so I really just need to lead my front foot over the second down part more

As said above: lean forward. For me, keeping my lead hand in front of my lead knee really helped with learning forward balance.

Sweet that might be the thing I need tbh i stood up in my schools lib and just felt that and it feels like it’ll lock my shoulders more into the rail which is IMO an issue I have

this is a super good tip^

Looks like you’re scared. Look at the end of the rail and focus on keeping the rail under your bindings. A bit wider stance and some speed could also help you.

Golden advice. Don’t just ride the rail. you gotta make that rail your bitch. Get your knees working

try to loosen your knees a little. Dont be static, keep your knees ready to suck in that kink and smoothen out the transition.

All fax..can't be a boner on a rail..also gotta commit and slide a full 90ish..you look kinda zeached which probably doesn't help. Center yourself over the rail you look back seat, lean forward to account for this

I think you might need to get down low and widen your stance a bit. A lower/more aggressive athletic stance will help you absorb the kink more too so you don't get bucked off.

Commitment is all you need man, don’t be afraid of the kinks you won’t ever really catch on them unless you’re going hella fast or leaning extremely forward. Just think it s a regular downrail and keeping looking at the end and you’ll be good

For sure I’m pumped to get out again now to get it nailed down

For sure, I think next time I’m on my

home rails/the smaller ones I’m gonna really try and spread my Legs and squat a bit more

100% lean forward towards the end of the rail and look at the end of the rail. This is crucial because when the kinks come, the athletic stance will help a lot. It looks like maybe you’re leaning just a TAD bit too far back when you hit the Flat section.

When you lean forward, you can shift your weight really easy between your two legs

Thanks a ton dude!! I’m itching to get out now since I think I’m really close to having a grip on most of the rails at my local hill after hitting my first rail in mid January

Im not a huge fan of these clips but for reference I hit my first kinked rails this year and after I did I was like “why have I not been doing these the whole time” they aren’t too hard once you get the feel

Considering there’s that “fav rail” thread today and everyone is saying dfd rails are the best is the reason I wanna get it figured out cause it’s like a playground in itself

edit: I love the vids they are raw and pure, plus they show me some good reference stuff for how to pop on better etc

I see you at big boulder all the time haha

Dude you obviously are perfectly capable, you already got the first down section so just give it a bit more speed maybe and don’t pussy out. You 100% got it though.

Stay squared up through the kink. You got that shit. Maybe hike it a few times so you can make the little adjustments or get pissed at the rail and send it.
