Double Flips... The New Trend?

It seems like for the past few years, people have been putting down double flips of all sorts. I have read people saying "they are dead, no one does them any more" "they have no style" "double flips would never hold up in a competition." I do not terribly disagree with the last statement about not holding up in competitions, but everyone I have talked to picks Rory's switch double back for the gold. We see a new variation of a double flip, "The Kangaroo Flip," performed by Jon Olsson, winning a huge competition recognized throughout the industry. We see the amazing new Matchstick Productions Film, PUSH, displaying Mike Wilson's double back off of a cliff, and his insane triple back, and also Rory's infamous switch double back. It seems as though more and more people are doing double flip variations and brings me back to my title> Double Flips... The New Trend? I think so boys and girls.

wilsons triple backflip was off a ridiculous cliff. i forget how high it was but it looked like it was 50 plus feet. I donno if it was in push i just saw it in skiing mag

up at the utah olympic park this summer everyone had some sort of double flip. there were double flats, corks, rodeos. kids could even do them on the tramps

not true, chris collins did a trip back off a cliff, wilson did a dub off a cliff and fell on a triple off of a jump in the bc.

yeah. wilson didn't stomp a triple. Collins did the triple off a cliff, and Wilson did that double at Squaw.

I don't like the look of double corks. I just think corks look more stylish. Double flips, on the other hand, are sick.

yea double corks are gonna be the new thing its pretty much the only way the sport can go now unless they keep jsut trying to spin more

anthony borowski was practicing some huge misty to cork double flip at the water ramps at hn so im sure we will see something relevant to that from him this season

who was throwing the double fronts at keystone? i remeber someone saying something in a thread about pros doing double fronts

how many snowboarders does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

27. 1 to do it, 2 to say they can do it better, and the rest to sit in the landing.

^ thats one of the funnier stupid jokes iv read in a long time

Stop trying to classify everything and breaking it down into trends.

Just ride and do whats fun to you.

Double flips are sick! especially the one that Rory Bushfield did but hes my favorite anyways so i guess i'm basing it on a bias decision.

i think double flip variations will be the new switch 1080's.

Gotta keep it fresh, wait until the x-games money booter at the end of the course, i bet we will see double flatspins, kangaroo flips, and all sorts of new goodies.

hope so anyway.

double flips are where its going to be at for the next couple of years its coming in and if you can do one with style then get in thoughs comps

well think about it. how many more variations of single flips/corks/flatspins are left to be done? I think this year double corks/flips/rodeos are gonna dominate. i bet the U.S. open big air this year will be won with a double something
