Double Decker Lifts (better than Underground Pneumatic Tube Lifts)

When humanity is in need of more space we go up, double deckerbuses in england, double decker bridges in new york, and eventually double decker chairlifts. This revoluntairy chairlift will be similar to the double double chairlifts of our youth, except instead of having hideously wide lift poles, and an ugly mess of wires it will be a simple sleek chairlift in a narrow lane that stacks as tall as the resort wants.

Benefits: extremely high uphill capacity, smaller lift lanes, ability to shut down one or the other, very cool trendy new concept, good for tourism, better views

Cons: wind hold on the upper lift, doesn't have the same ring as Underground Pneumatic Tube Lifts, might be harder to put up

This concept is so revolutionary the AI image generators couldn't quite figure it out:

No, do not disrespect Underground lifts. This is the worst idea ever. Do not contribute to the lift industry anymore.

[tag=167225]@partyandBS[/tag] he is Disrespecting our(actually my) idea.

Noo, I need the legendary Jamar Kalmar who company will have "lift monopoly within decade of this moment." I need YOU [tag=276797]@ramlaKramlaJ[/tag] to manufacture, produce, and ship these magnificent lifts around the world. And I will let [tag=279454]@fabbe[/tag] help if you join the double decker team

Sorry but my plans are in a full swing. I'm won't invest in to your idea because because I don't want more clowns into my circus.

but think about you me and fabbe, we would be unstoppable

i dont think im following. double decker chairs like the ai pic or additional line above the existing one??

for the former, could be solved with multiple entry platforms, ideally 1 on each side. concerned about skis falling on people below so i would make the upper part a gondola and the lower a chairlift. idk maybe the gondi blows less in the windd if its hanging lower?? Further research needed lol. this would also divide the ability levels so that noobs like [tag=279454]@fabbe[/tag] can unclick and load as well as grand mama who just wants a scenic ride while intermediate skiers such as [tag=276797]@ramlaKramlaJ[/tag] could offload withou having a stop. would be able to utilize similar terminal designs as now as well with the single cable therefore single bullwheel and less complex timing needed. would need to be raised. would be wind impacted. engineering would need to account for the additional weight but there are already larger pieces of equipment that detach from the line. the swing from the chair will be more dramatic so adjusting for that with a longer terminal at the top would be needed as well

for the 2 line idea, fuckin engineering nightmare with added lines. best I can think of is 2 terminals spinning opposite directions with the lines going on top of each other. they would have to be offset so one can send chairs over the other but would be able to utilize the same poles which is a plus. could split the groups with gondi below and chair on top but it would essentially be 2 lifts with a top and bottom terminal each. does come with lift maintenance efficiencies for tower maintenance but still seems extra bulky.

tunnels on the other hand have many advantages. they are very smooth and do not face the elements. chairlifts are static and can only stay on their line which is mostly point a to point b. some may be point a to point b then to point c. with the tunnels, you can easily program going from point a to a central terminal to point e or wherever else. you could literally tell the operator i need to meet at _____ and they would hit a button and send your cabin there. tunnels could be at each building including maintenance and admin so employees could safely maneuver the mountain without risk of injuring themselves or others while driving a snowmobile. also the aesthetic of a mountain without any lifts would be so much more blissful the double deckers. people could actually enjoy the intrinsic value of nature and the serenity or just hearing your gear hit the snow. now, loading and unloading seems to be a challenge here but i assure you our team of patriots will out perform anything those commies in scandinavia produce.

Imagine just sitting there on the chair with your kid and the shitbag teenager on the chair ABOVE you is clicking snow onto yall. No thanks. Smart ideology but not applicable in skiing. The mountain ain’t that crowded lmao. And that’s the worst way to solve it anyway.

it could be a gondola above, and what would you rather a double decker lift so one is always open or one lift that's closed midweek and closed for maintenance, plus a narrower lift corridor would mean more room for shenaginas in the woods.

True, would be expensive forsure. Could be a liability tho idk. If one falls onto another. Hella unlikely but still. I also feel like normal lifts don’t take up too much woods space in areas where they have to cut through them.

ill be the rick friend of this project, ill just dont be givin no fucks and minding my own bussiness and saying offensive and dark jokes (relax liberals.) until they like really need help and ill step in and save the day and get employee of the month type shit.

seems hard to achieve with skis and boards. looks fucking awful and i hope planes never look like that

Agreed. Just trying to understand exactly what he means. The ai picture is useless.

you’ll likely see these style seats in budget euro airlines fairly soon. They’re always pushing for ways to make seats smaller and squeeze in more seats

Imagine the person up top ripping ass

Let’s see the shitty AI image of the top and bottom terminal of such chairlift.

This concept reminds me of those European lifts that have gondolas and chairs on the same haul rope. I think there is one at copper too

There's two double decker gondolas here in switzerland. One I think is somewhere in Obwalden and the other one goes from samnaun up to the swiss side of ischgl ski resort. Have only ridden the samnaun one but apparently the other one has no roof on top so it’s like a terrace on top of the gondola.

I originally meant this as a joke, but the idea was two separate chairlifts stacked on top of each other. It is similar to the double runner at sugarloaf except vertical.

This except their in top if each other instead of side by side.

Ok now what you’re describing makes more sense. Seems like the lift would cost a lot more and the juice wouldn’t be worth the squeeze.

would be great if they run independently so people could keep riding one level if the other level has to stop for someone that falls or for patrol to load or unload a sled. in that regard a double decker quad would potentially be more efficient than an 8 pack

How do I get off the top level

They would need to rebuild lift stations and have an upper floor and a lower floors. Its a cost and engineering nightmare for a resort which is why its never going to happen.

you all ever pass over or under another chair in the air on a chair intersection? They have this set up at Loveland. Not sure if I've seen it anywhere else

Very simple, the top one would go up on the right the bottom would go on the left, and the top one would go a little farther, and then have a high de loading platform
