Alright, shipping off to college in a month or so..

I've got the basics, you know sheets, alarm clock, lamps, all that jazz.

But where's the fucking unique and cool shit? What did you guys do to make your dorm room dope?

HALP MEH.

computer, tv, snacks and a comfy chair.

Emphasis on the comfy chair. I brought a lazy boy to college and it was, without a doubt, the best decision I made that entire year.

imagine the laziest person ever and what HE would bring to make his life more comfortable, and bring it. because even if you're the most productive organized person ever, one morning after a long night of drinking you will thank me.

saw this a while back on another what should i bring to college thread: a box with your mailing address on it and a lock, if anyone has to search your room for some reason it is illegal for them to search through mail so you can put all your illegal stuff in there and they cant open it

well if its anything like porn, sex is all you will be doing. So tromendous amounts of lube since inevitably you will be having anal with a girl during her first time. Also make sure your close friends are realy hawt since you will surely be having a threesome with them. All girls you will ever meet are also going to have their first lesbian experience while your in the room so make sure not to be too drunk when this happens.

scope out the campus buildings for office chairs laying around that people are throwing out due to upgrading. most of my friends and I got comfy ass pre-broken-in chairs this way for free and replaced the super uncomfortable ones that come in the room

also, invest in some speakers:

^those are solid for the price and really bring some life to those mario kart tournaments/ room parties

also, try to get your fake BEFORE showing up cause they can be a pain in the ass to find

Glow in the dark stars. Christmas lights, beer pong cups pingpong balls stickers posters all that shit

bought a fireplace our junior year, jest conversation starter ever, also adds good vibes and perfect lighting we went with a wilderness vide, wilderness wall boarders, dear head (if you can find)

we also had a black wall of fame only pictures of famous black people were allowed on it

also have 2 fridges one alcohol fridge we covered with a sheet and put some books on it, if admin searches your room they just think its a box and never look through it

Microwave

Fridge

TV

Speakers

Plastic plates/cups/bowls

Stackable shelving

If your dorm doesn't come with a couch - definitely some sort of comfy chair to lounge in.

CLEANING SUPPLIES - especially if you have your own bathroom. Lysol wipes are your friend.

I guess Xbox or Playstation or something, but N64 is preferred. Nothing beats drinking while getting your nostalgia on with some Mario Kart/Tennis and Goldeneye

I brought four two-sixes of everclear, that was a solid decision.

Are your sheets twin extra-long? Some people don't realize that's what they need.

less is best.

You wouldn't believe the amount of random shit you will acquire in the first few days, let alone the first semester.

I'm jealous of the dorms you guys all got. We weren't allowed to bring in any furniture or cooking stuff like microwaves. Not that there would have been room anyways.

Bring a mini tool kit. You never know when you'll need a screw driver or wrench and I definitely didn't think to have one first year.

Some of this is what my friends and I either had or are brining next year. Lets start with the more common stuff.

A TV

xbox/ps3/whatever you play (personally I don't)

A fridge with a freezer

OxiClean (it can get anything out of your clothes/sheets)

A fan

a lamp

a mattress pad

an external hard drive is a good idea

A decent chair (I have a beanbag rocker that I like)

Speakers (they don't need to be big, probably better if they aren't super loud, you just want them loud enough to drown out some sound)

Good Headphones

My dorm had a nice kitchen, but maybe a microwave if you don't

and brings tons of food and drinks

Now for the cool and less common stuff

golf clubs - college golf or dorm mini golf are always fun, and if you have one of those putt returned, that even better

a blender - great for making a breakfast smoothie or a margarita

a rug if you have tile floors

a futon or lawn chairs (mainly if you have a bigger dorm or suite and have people over)

a printer is good, not many people remember it for some reason, and it is definitely worth it

an iron is good unless you want to have to fold or hang your stuff as soon as it dries

coffee machine if you have early classes and don't want to buy it

thats all I can think of right now, but I know i'm forgetting a few key things

A fan is key....move that air around or use it to blow the smoke out the window.

bring a printer, my freshmen year on my floor I was the only one with one in a room, word spread and ink would fly so it got costly....so I started charging a dollar per use....made some decent beer money that way (got free ink from my dads work.)

These two things.

^Churro maker

^obviously a slurpee dispenser.

Seriously. I had the slurpee dispenser, and my roomie had a churro maker. We had the best parties in our dorm one could ever imagine.

Plus, you can make weed churros and spike your slurpee machines. We always had at least one of the slurpee tanks with alcohol in it. We kept it well on the DL, and if anyone we didn't trust (or an RA) asked, we'd just say that it wasn't done mixing and can't be served (which worked like a charm since the one with alcohol never really iced up very well and looked as if it needed more time)

Also, who the FUCK isn't completely down for churros 100% of the time. We spent so much money on churro supplies and nutella to put on said churros. It was awesome.

one of those electric fireplace with a big ass wooden mantel( you can hang stocking off a round Christmas if you want to get real classy), ours didnt give off heat but flickered and sounded just like a real fire place with a mettle grate and some fake logs that it came with craigslist bust 100$ i spend in college

A bike and a U-lockAlso never have people over to drink in your dorm: your shit gets broken and you get written up/have to pay them 150$

Horrible idea if you are in a dorm.

Bongs reek. It's that simple. We had problems covering up the smell of vapes even.

And that looks like a nice bike. I would highly suggest bringing a shitty bike since drunk people like to wreck locked up bikes (take off the seat and handles), and it could get stolen.

Mini Fridge

Bike

Hammock if you have room

bean bag chairs are a good option

Christmas lights

Ipod dock

Cheap rug

HANGERS!!! cannot stress that one enough, also those stick on plastic hooks to put on the walls / doors. Milk crates are good for storing stuff aswell.

I wouldn't waste money on any appliances like a microwave or toaster, most dorms have a kitchen on each floor.

Yea lock boxes are so sketchy...... wrong. Have fun keeping your valuables, bank statements, etc out in the open. Everyone uses lock boxes because they are the safest way to store your important paperwork and stuff like that.

.....that is quite possibly the best thing in the whole entire world. If I ever walked into a dorm room with a fireplace, I would instantly get naked. Very sophisticated.

somehow this thread became NSFW.

and i dont know if anyone has mentioned it...but fans...bring fans. If you're going to school in a hot place, those dorms usually have no AC and you will roast!

Also I'm sure someone has said mini fridge, AND shower shoes.
