Crailtap.com held a Lakai Final Flare edit contest last month with the winning entry being a animation short by Cosme. Really liked the animation and think it'd be sick if someone took a part in one of this year's movie and put this type of animation on it. enjoi

^ dude that argument is soo weak. you think there'd be any newschoolers.com if skateboarders didn't start "grinding" shit like 20 years ago. it's called progression and being influenced. we all participate in action sports, so who gives a shit if you are inspired by a skate edit to do something similar with skiing.

someone should still do something like this with skiing (urban preferably)

woah bud, nollies, lipslides, frontside, etc... all taken from skateboarding, are you saying these tricks should not be done because there taken from skateboarding?

^ you can't be selectively annoyed with one type on influence skateboarding has had on skiing and ignore other things like tricks dude.

all action sports (skateboarding, bmx, surfing, etc.) have copied styles from one another to the benefit of everyone. i was watching a surf movie the other day with a friend of mine and there so many similarities (songs, camera angles, organization) to ski movies i couldn't name them all.

and it's nothing to hate on because only people who are avid skiers and skateboarders would notice it's a borrowed style of editing. not that it's an original animation style to skateboarding in the first place, i'm sure the person who made this edit was inspired by a similar style of cartoon or some shit.

basically your wrong

all im saying is that we dont need snowboarders copying skateboard tour ideas (emerica's wild ride inspired the abomination that was steezy riders...barf), we dont need skiing stealing already-thought-of editing techniques from skateboarding, we dont need blatant ripoffs of things borne in skateboarding.

trick-wise, i encourage it. skateboarders are a hell of a lot more creative than both skiers and snowboarders, and if we can try to adapt some of that creativity to our own sports, then im all for it. its just the superficial stuff that makes it look like we dont have minds of our own and have to look to skateboarding to determine whats "cool".

skiing has come a long way to differentiate itself from other sports. lets not take steps backwards.

this is very very loosely related to the original video, but i figured i might as well lay it all out there and share my feelings as a whole.

i hear what you saying, but i don't think skiing is at much risk of looking unoriginal. we have so many unique contests and tours (Orage PP, salomon jib academy, JOSS, JOI, etc.) and have such a diversity of movies (from the Nimbus crew to Rage films to Meathead films) i just think that taking cues from other action sports without straight up "copying" them shouldn;t be frowned upon
