Don't want to get hosed

I really want to get back into the sport and buy a season pass next year. I live in a flat state next to colorado. My concern is, what happens when the 'rona comes back next season? (and it will, but we will also be much better prepared) Will the governor freak out and shut the whole state down again (despite already hamstringing the states income due to lack of tourism in the spring)? If that happens the ski industry will be CRIPPLED (goodbye to some mom and pop areas) and I, and many many others I presume, will be sitting on thousands worth of useless passes and air bnb/lodging reservations. Thoughts? (about the financial impact. If you want to rant about how scary the virus is, thats not really my concern in THIS post)

I'd say get a pass and purchase insurance on it. Not sure how much insurance would cover stuff related to covid, but worth a shot. Ikon is only 800 rn as well. Hard to really answer the question, no one knows what's going to happen.

I feel it’s pretty risky to buy a season pass before the season starts. Saw a john

hopkins study that put the second peak starting right around November or April and lasting a few months

yeah...for sure...more of just a discussion post. Just kinda probing others thoughts on the matter. They might write something into the insurance for this very reason, going forward.

Right on.. Place I work for buys our ikon pass so I'm really lucky in that regard. It's a shitty situation for people that have to buy their own, for sure.

So Ikon and Alterra have made announcements on remaining passes for 19/20 you can get credit/discount on 20/21 passes.

Additionally right now Ikon is allowing anyone, whenever they purchase their 20/21 pass, be able to defer your pass to the 21/22 season (within the periods of Sept 10/2020 to December 10/2020).

So looks like companies are incentivizing to sell passes and allowing to move credit around to even 21/22 season.

But whatever pass you buy read the fine print and know the details before buying.

I imagine Epic pass is gonna follow suit and do something similar here soon if that's your stroke. I'd play the waiting game on pass to see if you can score a better deal.

lol I love how nebraska and kansas are so shitty you wont even name drop what state you live in. I feel for you OP. Driving through those states is enough for me. I can't imagine having to spend time there.
