Don't go on a Carnival cruise!!!!!

I was listening to KFI640, a radio news station her in California, and they were talking to someone about the Carnival cruise ship that was stuck out at sea. Carnival reports that all of the passengers are being well taken care of and everyone is being fed. They talked to a guy that was on the ship with his newlywed wife. He says that there was vomit and feces everywhere. The smell inside was horrendous, people were sick everywhere, and cruise ships kept stopping by to deliver food. According to the guy they were talking to, the food was not being rationed correctly and it was basically 1st come 1st serve. His wife had only a PB&J Sandwich and a bottle of water for 2 days. Meanwhile, Carnival is reporting that there is nothing wrong with the conditions on the ship. The owner of Carnival attended a Miami Heat game last night while all of this is unfolding. TL;DR - Carnival Cruise ship stranded in the ocean for a week until today, and there was vomit, feces and general filth everywhere.

Alright, I'll try my best not to go on the cruise that is stuck out on the middle of the ocean....

I've been on a Carnival cruise before, it was fine.

Relax.

I'd like to know how in the fuck vomit and feces ended up all over the ship? wtf? are people just randomly shitting in the hallways because there's nothing else to do? i'm skeptical. i see no reason why people would just suddenly start trashing the place because there's engine trouble.

Are you retarded? Engine trouble means no power. No power means no working plumbing. No plumbing means that there is no where for shit to go (5000 peoples worth of shit). No power also means that the boat isn't stable, so it will rock in the waves, causing people to get sea sick and vomit. Guess what, the plumbing still doesnt work, so the vomit and shit overflow and have no where to go. Think before you post. That way you wont sound like a complete idiot

God people are stupid. They should be shitting in to bags and throwing it overboard. society these days.

That's hardly the only reason to not go on a cruise...

Why don't you just not go because the only people who go on cruises are fat couch potatoes in their 70's...

Or, try the incredible continental transportation innovations that have been around since the Titanic sunk.

;)

Yeah someone please find out the reason they didn't just throw their shit overboard, I need to know what's stopping them. Just too many people? C'mon, set up some tarps at the back of the boat and make some temporary washrooms

KFI is horrible.

Buuuuut, they are correct on this topic. From theatlanticwire:

With less than 24 hours until the ship's rescue, we've arrived at the

clash of corporate PR and onboard disgust in the saga of the Carnival Triumph,

now stranded 200 miles south of Mobile, Alabama. The cruise company's

boss claims that conditions aren't so bad, even four days after the

mid-ocean stall. But reports from some of the 4,000 passengers depict a

travel agent's worst nightmare — something like the lawlessness of

Somalia but maybe more like a floating Penn Station bathroom. "No one

here from Carnival is happy about the conditions onboard the ship,"

Carnival Cruise President Gerry Cahill is quoted as saying in an AP report today, which adds that Cahill claims the Triumph,

which has been running on backup power since Sunday, still has running

water, with most of its 23 public restrooms and some of the guest cabin

bathrooms working again on Tuesday.

Hmm. That's not quite we're hearing. Here's what the people onboard say they're dealing with:

[*]

Sewage is everywhere. Well, eww. "Passengers have reported sewage sloshing around in hallways, flooded rooms and trouble getting enough to eat," reports CNN.

[*]

Poop is in bags. "Jimmy Mowlam, 63, whose 37-year-old

son, Rob Mowlam, got married Saturday onboard the ship, said his son

told him by phone Monday night that there is no running water and few

working toilets," reports the AP. "He said passengers were given plastic bags to 'use for their business.'"

[*]

But people aren't using the bags? "From what I

understand, they're walking around in a lot of urine and fecal matter,

and the sewers are backing up," a mom whose husband and daughter are

onboard told CNN. This claim seem to have some merit, as a passenger texted ABC News on Monday that carpets were soaked with urine and toilets were overflowing.

[*]

The fecal matter is getting stinkier. "Other

passengers reported no air-conditioning inside cabins and an increasing

stink inside the ship from sick passengers and a lack of food

refrigeration," reports the BBC.

[*]

And people have stopped being polite. "It's like a bunch of savages on there," said Brent Nutt, whose wife, Bethany, is onboard. "If you get on the blogs, they're saying that people are fighting over food and stuff."

[/list]

If weather permits, the passengers aboard the Triumph will (thankfully) be docking in Alabama on Thursday.

^ it's rediculous how much impact the tendencies of society influence people's actions. After watching Walking Dead I'm starting to believe that given such chaos (zombies are extreme, but still) people will return to their animal nature aka their true nature. People acting generously and nicely in society is just a way to benefit yourself, because that's what society currently favors. But in this scenario they don't need to follow the usual trends and can be their actual selves, aka selfish dicks

Ski trips are generally waaaaaaaaaay more expensive than cruises. Cruises are a good time, you just have to research which trips typically have the kind of people on them you want to be with. Spring Break ones are nuts and you get to go to several islands on one trip.

it's funny the perceptions people have of cruises if they've never been on one. It's like they're stuck in the 1920s, or saw that one episode of Rocko's Modern Life.

On the ship is the equivalent of a top notch resort. Tons of pools/hot tubs, a few great restaurants, usually a 24hr buffet, and tons of smaller places to get food. At night there's a ton of entertainment. Bands, comedians, magicians, even stuff like singing contests and movies. And nightclubs. Plus the pools and everything are still open.

Then every day you roll up to a different paradise island and can do literally anything you want all day until you get back on, and the ship leaves.

I'd take a ship over an island resort any day.

I went on a cruise. I'm not exactly a tropical guy and going to hawaii proved that. being on the boat was fun though. I mean eat however much whenever you want. swimming pools and friends every where. good times. many shenanigans.

I've done a Mexican Cruise as well as have been to Hawaii many times and to Cancun a few as well. I much preferred the greater options in dining and activities offered of a land-based trip.

I heard about this one that hit an iceberg and sank and like 1,500 people died. Needless to say, I'm never going on a cruise ship.

i couldn't stand being on a boat with thousands of disgusting fats. i spent 2 weeks in cocoa beach, fl on a training trip in january and it's right near port canaveral so it's where all the fats spend the night before leaving on their cruises and the clientele of a standard carnival cruise in florida is revolting and depressing

i'm sure some cruises are more catered towards younger, active people but this scene was incredibly grim

oh yeah no way in hell I'd ever take a carnival cruise. If you want to avoid those people you don't take the budget cruises.

many of the levels of the boat don't have access to the outside. so if your room is on the 5th level and there isn't access to the open air for the floor or two above and below, you're not going to make it.

but seriously I don't understand how they couldn't have devised some sort of makeshift bathrooms out of buckets or something.

It would seem that without power there would be a problem with communicating. with a thousand or so people how do you let everyone know what to do and where to do it.

Ive always wanted to go on a cruise but my parents never had interest in going on one. Now that Im older, I think it would be fun but in a different way. I would imagine nobody gets ID'd on the ship?

I heard one day people were lining up for lunch in which they got cucumber and onion sandwiches. Probably my favorite meal. Not sure what they're complaining about

there's just something funny about the way you say "older" and then state you think it would be more fun because you wouldn't get ID'd.

Alcohol policy varies by cruise line. Some do beer and wine 18+, hard alcohol 21+, while some do full bar 18+. Also alcohol rules vary depending on the port country you'll be going to. And even then it varies establishment to establishment.

Most lines use the drinking age of the home port they left as the age on the ship. Meaning if you leave the US, the age is 21.

Just read that it will take 5 HOURS to disembark all of the passengers. Image going through all of that bullshit (literal shit) and then having to wait 5 hours to disembark.
