he went to get something back he really cared about that was taken under bad circumstances. Bikes get stolen all the time and to some its not like getting your inanimate object stolen from you like a TV or a door. But its something you put your soul into customizing, riding, and probably take to so many places and use so much. A bike isn't just rubber tires and a metal frame to some people, its almost like a friend.

 
I remember when somebody stole my board that I had just put brand new bindings on the day before. Was only out less than 600 bucks but still. I was ready to kill to get it back.

Saw somebody riding the same board with white bindings fly by and chased them down, right before I dove on them to murder them and take it back I noticed it wasn't mine. Never got it back :(

Fuck thieves. I can't stand how it's so widely accepted. I guess it goes along with the attitude of everyone's out to get you, you were wronged by the world, the world owes you everything. Also the fuck everyone over to get what's yours deal. Shit is whack.

i fucking cant stand bike people sometimes. and this is coming from someone who bikes pretty much every day. like yeah, its shitty to steal stuff and the dude was totally in the right by getting his bike back and screwing the guy over. but its just the "im above you because i ride a bike and dont pollute, and im fit, follow the biker code, share the road even if im doing 20 in the middle of a fucking 40mph road with a 5 foot bike lane, dont honk at me because shame on you trying to get somewhere, locals only, look at me i dont own a T.V. im a beer enthusiast, look at how chill i am even though i fucking explode at anything that doesnt kiss bikings ass" attitude.

its like if you steal something, you made a bad choice, and you deserve punishment, you should change your ways. but oh man if you steal a bike... you're the scum of the earth, you deserve to be locked up for life, i hope all your friends and family disown you and your entire life is ruined, because you stole a bike man.
 
They should do this in Amsterdam.

Every day around a 1000 bikes get stolen. Literally everybody's bike has been stolen, after which you buy a 'new' one for 10-15€ of a junk/bike thief. It's kind of a viscious circle. Except that the money ends up in some guys veins.
 
my sister and i ride the MS society rides in our area every year and have the greatest of times making fun of people like that. it is way too much fun.

I would do the same. If I dropped 2500 on a bike (fun fact, I have a specialized tarmac frame), and i loved it (also have a '78 cinelli that was in le tour de france) I would do stupid things if someone stole by bike.

I lock my car so it does not get stolen....

Makes me proud to be from portland! To all those in here thinking that the bike owner is a cocky douch (which is not true about most road cyclists, furthermore those in portland, just a stereotype), its like having yours and 5 of your best friends ski setup stolen from the rack, and then seeing them on craigslist a few days later. even if you have to spend a couple hundred on gas, you too would travel 3 hours to get your $2500 investment back. you dont just move on from that like nothing happened. I would flip a shit if someone stole my $1200 dirt jumper.
