Don't even like Simon, but...

dude use your head man.

Im againt dumont promoting TARGET, and not promoting his own CORE SKI COMPANY.

All I said was it's really odd how he doesn't even care that 2 of his fellow riders, and friends, placed at the Dew Tour. When was the last time Dumont on the same podium as his bud Olenick? Dumont wasn't cheering for Jossi who skis on Dumonts team as well. There is a HUGE differece between shamelessly promoting a corporation that uses dumont as a posterboy, and promoting a core ski company that is ski focused. And dumont started empyre, he should be repping his company at every single event. I don't think im contradictary or anything.

i think that peter's run was better than simon's.
even though it was a little bit sketchy at times, that kang flip more than made up for it

Jossi's run was great but Simon deserved the win, i think. But besides that, I think Simon's first run was better than his second and it had more rotation, but it scored less. The judging was a little shaky. I think it sometimes depends on the order that the skiers drop in. The announcers where saying the judges where probably leaving room to improve for skiers going later in the order, and i agree. I definately understand Simon's dissapointment. Jossi still did great though, hes killing it lately

no, mike gets it, here is your posts summed up. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say maybe you missed something you meant to have added or or something sounds differently.

you have said,

1.

simon should not be more successful because the money will not benefit him in the way that it could if it went to another competitor because Simon is already successful. It doesn't matter all that simon has done to put his skiing at a level to be the best.

2.

simon should not be supporting non-ski companies because only ski companies can help the sport. in actuality only corporations can help expand the sport. THe sport could survive as core but would not be able to expand. (think the voicemail message in transworld and what june mountain was and where it will be). The two biggest stages the sport have are the xgames and the dewtour. Mountain dew has nothing to do with skiing so isn't core. Well, according to your logic shouldn't exist.

combining 1 and 2.

money in the sport should only go to skiers who work hard yet aren't at the top however there should be no money in the sport to begin with.

a bit of an exaggeration but you fail.

i'mnot a fan of giving to those who "derserve" or those who earned which your arguement actually is. Be all know deserving is subjective while earning is a lot less.

I don't think you guys realize that Jossi got an additional hit in, which automatically scores a fair bit more, take Tanner and Simon's pipe runs at last x games, Simon didn't place as well because he was averaging I think 5 hits instead of 7.

Are you sure because i watched it and the runs seemed like mirror images of each other except simon did a 10 and Jossi did 7? correct me if i'm wrong.

Jossi Wells was up next and as always, was all smiles while throwing down one of the most stylish and consistent runs I have ever witnessed. He got one more hit than Simon, putting him just above The Dumont with a 92.50. What’s more interesting than a little Dew Tour Superpipe drama? Simon then took his second run, improving just a little at 91.38 but could not edge out the Kiwi.

Dude, Dumont does it to himself, just because you can go big doesn't mean you need to. Everyone has seen Dumont go big, I have seen his red bull record thing a million times. He did 4 hits in super pie in the first stop, no chance he was going to win from that. He gave some lame excuse about how the pipe was shorter than what he was use to. Then this stop he does one hit less than everyone else. From watching what the other competitors are doing he should know to switch his runs up with wider variety of tricks and swtich ups. He should know how to control his speed and air control to get more hits in the pipe.

I dont know if you have ever been in a finals scenio, but the last thing your thinking about is winning. You go out there and do your best. You should be walking off the field knowing you left it all out there. Simon should know he did his best and be thankfully he got second. Everyone of those athletes were going for poduim and he got it. You can be pissed but from the overall perspective, he should be happy. He should be happy hes able to do what he does, just look at Kevin Pearce. If he recovers, he will be hoping to walk again, let alone ride again or compete. Simon could be like everyone else his age and coming out of college in debt and searching and hoping to find a job. For what gets to do, put a f**king smile on and be happy you got poduim with your buddies. I know when i got my ring, it was the most awesome moment ever.

Duncan is pretty sick, but generally the judges will give the win to someone who is actually there and competing in the event.

he really said that? wow, then why wasnt he training in copper's 22footer after? nope, he was going through breck's like a mad man the past couple weeks.

i didn't see it as whining, any competitor is not going to be thrilled with second place, especially when you felt like you deserved the win. Tom Brady wasnt happy when he lost the super bowl, same type of thing, hes a competitor

Also, i was a bit miffed by pete's score. the dub flatspin was the first stylish pipe dub. All the other dubs are identical and are basically tucked double backflips and they look stupid. Dubs obviously arent going away, so i was kind of pissed that the judges didn't encourage styley dubs, especially when he had a solid run after it.

I think the only reason Pete didnt win was because he had a couple of sketchy landings on that run that docked him a few points. Were he to cleanly land each hit I think he would have won.

I kinda disagree about the Tom Brady thing. Its a completely different scene than pro football and the super bowl. The super bowl is the biggest event in the USA and its a game against two teams not 10 competitors. Other members can play a huge role in the outcome rather than in pro skiing where you have no one to blame but yourself. In skiing your competing against your friends who want you to succeed like you want them to, while in football your not good friends with the guys who are hitting up against . You have more of a bond with your teammates who want to win as much as you and the skiers have that bond.

Dumont shouldnt be pissed considering he didnt even place last stop and hasnt won a super pipe gold since like 2004-2004. He has every right to be mad / sad, but be happy because your teammates are standing up there with you. Besides it looks better for him to be overly fake about being happy than a whiny punk. If he wanted to be like oh shawn white, and train ALONE, then he has every right to be pissed and throw a tantrum. His sportsmanship is whats is being questioned by people not his competitiveness. Personally I would rather watch Colby West, who doesnt win but has the best attitude over any other athlete.

The only reason i say that about football is I have been in a finals position and won. Then the following year lost in the semi finals to the future champion team. It hurt alot losing but you get over it. The team who won goes to the same camp with us and its felt awesome seeing guys we train with winning and succeeding where we failed to.

i wasnt in any way comparing skiing and football, i was using Tom Brady as a rough example because i know Dumont approaches skiing differently - he views it more as a competitve sport than as broing out with youre buddies as some people do.

simon just looks mad on the podium pic on NS, he was fine there, came over and was being cool and signing stuff/claim. But i think he may have deserved it, correct me if im wrong but didn't jossi get in one more hit than simon? If so i guess that makes sense, even if dumonts run prior to that was a bit better.

Peter O's was the best trick for sure! that dub was so sick! If his landings were more spot on, and had gone bigger on the next few hits, he would have taken it for sure!

You shoulda seen him after Northstar Dew Tour slope last year. He blew off a bunch of 9 year olds trying to get his autograph and told them to go away.
No class.

i disagree. Before SImon can run the top of the podium, he needs to find that balance of height/distance down the pipe. Everyone always has one more hit. And to all of you who think that his amplitude covers up for his one less hit, you're looking at the wrong stuff.

completely agree dude. jossi just looks like he is having a good time doing something he loves.

Are you fucking kidding me, you ignorant asshole?
I haven't seen the runs, but if they were as close as everyone is saying, then maybe Simon should stop being such a wanker and good Karma might come his way and he might get a break.
Jossi on the other hand is always smiling. He's super positive and you'll never hear him complaining. He deserved the win for this reason alone.
