Dont drink and drive

So apparently I read the post wrong?

Apologies. Really don't like jokes about that shit though they get my jimmies rustled like whoa.

Awww, it's like you're the only one that has suffered a loss! omg you're like so insightful and deeply connected to this issue. It's so cuuute!

And you're right, NSG on newschoolers.com is NO PLACE TO FUCKING JOKE AROUND! SERIOUS SUBJECT MATTER ONLY DESERVES SERIOUS POSTS ABOUT YOUTUBE VIDEOS MAKING YOU CRY LIKE A BITCH!

Gawl people, have some respect!

I take it back. If you're in Park City, please drink and drive. If you see a miserable looking pillow-shaped ginger all by themselves kicking rocks, please gas it and aim for them. There's a chance we could turn this frown upside down if we could only get some dash cam footy of skiierman ragdolling off someone's windshield into the front window of a glass and razorwire shop.

and this is why I'm the dd. I like to let my friends have a good time. I don't handle myself very well when I'm drunk anyway.

don't drink and drive...you might spill your drink...

yeah just don't do it.

i can admit that i have gotten behind the wheel once when it was pretty obvious that i shouldn't have. luckily for me, nothing happened. am i proud of it? hell no! do i condone it? absolutely not!

at the end of the day kids, it's a decision that you will regret the rest of your life. remember, the cab ride home or the hotel room for the night will sure as hell cost you less than the fines, inflated insurance costs, ignition lock installation, etc...not to mention the costs that come with killing someone you care about or someone's loved one. that kind of thing will never leave you...

take from that what you will

Intense. Girls in my grade drink and drive every weekend, they can't put being safe and staying alive as a priority over getting wasted one night. One girl in my grade knowingly let her drunk friend drive her vehicle home, and she crashed it. She still drinks and drives and faced no repercussions, it's pretty shitty.

why dont they just start putting ignition interlocks in every new car, yes blowing before you started up your car every time would be annoying but it would cut down on dui's much better than these videos which just preach to the choir

because those interlocks don't allow you to drive at any level at all-- even below the legal limit. I know they can adjust the settings, so maybe they should make it so that it is set at the legal limit or something. However, I've heard of people just having a sober friend blow into them...there are also companies that install these, that you can bribe. My brother's friend had one of these put on his car, the company that came out to do the install was just some young guy by himself, the friend paid the guy $100 to install it wrong so that it wouldn't work.

I believe this ads being shown on mainstream tv and in schools within Australia is why drink driving in Australia isn't any where near as prevalent as in the US.

when rappers like lil wayne and kid cudi have lyrics like "drivin drunk and i dont even give a fuck" that's what really grinds my gears. YOU ARE A ROLE MODEL FOR 13 YEAR OLDS, JEEBUS CRIPES. i could go on.

Yeaaa, a TV commercial is responsible... right... couldn't be anything else because aside from those commercials because Australia is identical to the U.S.

Our legal limit is .05, you would expect Australia to have more cases of drink driving than the US due to this. These ads actually do work.

yes, well-- at .05 they've basically made drinking and getting behind the wheel at all, illegal.

They're talking about lowering it to .05 here. Its not like someone can tell when they're at .03, .04, .05-- so basically you'd either have to make the decision that you're going to risk a DUI, or not drive- period. Lowering it to .05 would cause a lot of people to make the latter decision-- hence less DUIs and accidents.

I think an increase in public transportation options would be just as effective. I wish Seattle had "collectivos" like they have in Mexico. Shared taxi vans that drive in and out of all the most popular destinations. $2.00/person.

One of the biggest things people don't realize is even after only 2 beers you can still fail a breathalyzer. If you drink at all you should not drive. The police very rarely calibrate their breathalyzers so if you've drank at all it and you get pulled over you are screwed. I got a DUI after only 4 beers and it cost me the best job I've ever had not to mention a TON on money. It's really not worth the risk. Basically zero tolerance for drinking and driving. I will never do it again. Unless your'e a hot chick, I had a friend that hit a parked police car driving drunk and they let her go...

we had a kid I used to play football in high school with who just got sentenced for manslaughter because he drove drunk/high and killed a dude who had 2 young kids. Seriously ain't worth it.

I dont really think it should be lowered. I am for higher penalties though.. Especially if you do cause an accident.

you didnt mention the time frame you drank the beers in, but if it is during the course of dinner it really isnt surprising you failed.

The main reason i wanted to comment though is that if you get a dui and the cop hasnt recalibrated his breathalyser when he was meant to it will get thrown out if you take it to court, not condoning drunk driving but worth knowing

Hahaha, you are dense. "It can't be the different laws regarding drinking and driving or the respect towards drinking that kids learn much more early on than kids in the U.S.. No it can't possibly be the drastic differences in how each country handles alcohol... IT'S GOTTA BE TV ADS! THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE EVEN THOUGH THE U.S. SPENDS MILLIONS ON DRUNK DRIVING ADS AS WELL!"

A little over 2 hours. At first I though I would get it thrown out but my Lawyer strongly suggested I just take the standard DUI penalties as opposed to spending more money in court and the possibility of jail time.

I've lived in the US, the attitude and respect towards drinking in both countries is extremely similar. Underage drinking starts around the same age and so does binge drinking. Your ads are no where near as confronting as the Australian ads. In Australian high school they circulate an ad that shows an actual dead body being dissected in a morgue to shock kids out of drink driving. The difference in culture in regards to tv laws is what I believe makes the difference not the respect of alcohol. And .05 is 2 drinks.

in any situation regrading the law talking to a lawyer, free legal hotline, or something is your best bet. much wiser then trusting somebody on the web who took a law course in highschool haha. even if you have a strong case you could still lose without a lawyer due to something small, at least this high school law students will admit he doesnt know much but the very basics haha

i really want to buy one of those personal breathalysers because with my bc novice license i cant have any alcohol in my system and who can tell if there are still at 0.01% after having one beer earlier
