So... im sure many of you read the news and whatnot, bath salts are a problem. From what I have read, usually the ingredients are Mephedrone, MDPV, or Methylone. I have seen some reports that say there could be some other ingredients in some bath salts, that I dont know. Erowid has pages on all those chemicals BTW.

They are sold in vials, and look like coke. Apparently they give an intense euphoric high, and the side effects of course include paranoia, hallucinations, etc.

Why am I saying all this? Well I think a lot of you all know I work in an ER, and this week we had two overdose deaths presumably from bath salts (NOT POLYSUBSTANCE ABUSE, BATH SALTS ONLY). We have also had multiple admissions both psychiatric and medical, from bath salt abuse. I can say for a fact even though its only anecdotal, that these bath salts are no good. Im not your local bimbo news anchor, so im not going to use scare tactics or lies to convince anyone. However, I am saying I have seen with my own two eyes that this shit can fuck you up. Our docs dont seem to know how to treat it, and some of the side effects and medical issues have been lasting weeks. It honestly reminds me a lot like taking care of someone on PCP. The only thing is that these chemicals seem to be causing organ failure and death as well.

Anyways, consider that a PSA or something, if you are ever given the choice, I personally believe this would be one of those things that would not even be good in moderation.
 
yeah, people just think "its legal, so it cant be bad". but seriously, with substances being created at every other corner, you cannot outlaw every single one of them nor effectifely enforce such hypothetical laws faster then these substances occurr.

just use your mind guys. if it makes you trip harder than alcohol, chances are that its also more dangerous than alcohol which idk how many people die each year off.

 
Thing is people don't know the ingredients in bath salts. It might be methylone mephedrone or MDPV. But It could most defenitely be a mix of those (and most def. including dangerous MDPV because it is active in much lower dosage (less $$ to make) ) . It could also include lots of related compounds like buphedrone, MDAI, Ethcathione, 4FA and MEC etc... No fucking research has been done on these things and some people are willingly injesting it at unknown dosage from an unknown mix...

So when you say "not polysubstance abuse" well... bath salts are probably a mix of 2 or more substances. But oh... they're not for human consumption... right?

The better part of the problem will be when they ban these drugs... In the UK since they've banned mephedrone, street chemists are making it, resulting in inconsistant purity along with other criminal issues associated with illegal drugs... And mephedrone, kids, surly isn't better for your body than methamphetamine.

Must be horrible to witness someone die in the hospital from an OD on this shit...
 
When I say polysubtance abuse I speak in the voice of someone who works at a hospital. What I mean by that is all too often our "scare tactics" culture will automatically attribute something terrible to the latest and greatest fear, meaning crime all of a sudden = immigrants or something of that nature, as opposed to the truth crime=poverty or something more realistic.

To clarify, most deaths that occur from substance abuse are often cumulative effects of multiple drugs, so it would be disingenuous to suggest that all of my ODs are from pot, even though about 100% of them have THC pop up on their tox screens. The actual OD was from heroin, lasting damage from alcoholism, and an underlying undiagnosed heart condition, not the joint the guy smoked to make it all go down smooth. You feel me? When I say the death was from bath salts, these are random younger people that basically didn't do drugs, dosed on these bath salts, and keeled over dead. I'm not blaming bath salts on a death caused by ETOH poisoning or something.

Im not saying that you suggested this in your post so dont take it as such, but nothing bugs me more than to have someone who defends drugs try to call me out on the health reprecussions of DgmtTSsa-X1112$1GHB or something or another they read on erowid. I'm not a fear mongerer, and I am not an idiot. I am a realist, and drugs of all kinds have very real possible side effects. I also happen to work in a business that practically and empirically judges what happened to someone and for what reason.

A majority of substance abuse in our culture is polysubstance abuse. Many people who abuse a certain drug abuse others as well, and could also drink, and smoke, etc etc. It is hard to pinpoint what was most unhealthy for that person, or what did the most damage, or what conclusively killed them in the case of an OD.

The bath salt ODs I saw were "not polysubstance abuse" in the sense that they were not using your typical drugs, indicating they were definitely killed by whatever was in that vial.

 
I have seen a few cases of malignant hyperthermia associated with x use, honestly I have no opinion. If it was me personally I would not even try both (bath salts or ecstasy). Then again I am a little older and married etc etc.
 
I eat bath salt flurries :).....but really its a big thing in my town. I was talking to a kid i want to school with and he has 6 friends in the mental institute due to bath salts, that shits fucked up. Like meth/crack all in one haha

Yeah I get what you're saying. I'm in no way trying ton convince anyone to take or not drugs, wether they be bath salts or not, nor saying I know anything about the actual damage they do to thos who partake in abusing them.

What you're saying is more so the point I was trying to pass: that these bath salts are real drugs, just like their other related illegal compounds. And when you say the type of people that OD'd on them were not typical drug addicts means just that. These drugs are so appealing to other people because you do not have to get trough a street dealer and they are somewhat less illegal than their counterparts (contrairy to most beliefs, they are actually illegal if intended for consumption).

But what makes it more dangerous is that you have no fucking clue of knowing how much is enough and how much is too much. And that people don't realise the real danger of that.
 
First, Id like to give you props for working in the ER, that shit is crazy. But what are these bath salts? Is that just the name of the drug or is it some type of epson salt haha, never heard of this before...

And to any kids thinking this sounds like something you want to try... This guy has seen 2 people DIE from it, now if you think you can't live without it enough to risk your own life go ahead, but think about it..

Im not trying to advocate NO DRUGS because I went through a little phase when I was 18, but I mean everything has an equal and opposite reaction, so the high you get out of this shit, well think about what its doing to your body to get you to that state of messed up.

They sell it at hodgie marts it's like "synthetic cocaine" kinda like the coke version of k4. People in my town are eating it up.
 
A mailbox is a called a mailbox because that's exactly what it is, a box to put mail in. These drugs are called bath-salts as a front so they can be sold in stores. Its pretty obvious you do not put them in your bathtub after a long day. If you're going to be a dick instead of being helpful, then at least be good at it. Now please GTFO.

It is just research chemical(s) marketed as something else and marked 'not for human consumption' so it can be sold...

Really fucked up imo, you kids need to be careful, I wouldn't fuck with that stuff...
 
bath salts have been used for years properly because of their perceived benefits in bathing and only recently have retards found out that ingesting it (which is extremely dumb in itself) can make you trip balls. so by this retarded logic, cough syrup is another hidden legal drug that was never intended to stop coughs but to get you fucked up if you drink enough of it.

You are a fucking idiot, normal bath salts do not get you high. Recently there have been "bath salts" which are just research chemicals that are marketed as bath salts & said to be not for human consumption so they can be sold... Much like spice bullshit which is an "incense" that gets you high...

Yeah ok I get you man, I kinda thought that this was what you were saying earlier. I just wanted to cut off that train of thought that "who knows what killed 'em" sort of thing, so I quoted you and wrote what I did. I didn't necessarily address it to you though.

Yeah, kinda scares me in general. I have only a certain type and level of empathy and patience for the addiction community, and it seems like bath salts are one of those things that are legitimately taking people by surprise. I just wanted to give NS the heads up, at least from my point of view.
 
This is sorta old news in WA. They had a news special about it a couple months ago. But I respect your concern cuz that shit is fucked up. When I first saw it on the news I thought it was like regular bath salts & I was like da fuck is this shit? Then I read some shit on it and stuff. It's wild.

I know, cool story right?
