Domains or chronics(midwest)

I have been looking for a new pair of skis and can't decide if I should get an all mountain ski or a park ski. My first question is, are chronics good in the park? And will the domains be fine all around the mountain? Keep in mind the jumps in the Midwest aren't more than 30 or 40 feet. And the runs are long or steep.

How I would think about it: the Domains will be shit on all-mountain but the Chronics won't be shit in the park.

Seriously, carving on symmetrical skis feels gross. Get the Chronics, mount them a bit behind true center and never look back.

Same here man. -2 is such an ideal mounting spot for a mix of park and all-mountain.

Though I would also mount them at -2 for 100% park.

Ignore most of the advice in this thread. Kids are over-hyping things that don't really matter that much.

The Chronics will be better for you because they're a bit stiffer, so more stable bombing groomers and crud. And you should center mount them. They were designed for that, and they'll actually carve best there because that's the narrowest part of the sidecut. Plus you'll get more balanced swing weight for park and won't look like a gaper.

And I want to make another point: it always has more to do with the skier than the skis. I can carve on my Domains just fine as long as it's soft enough for my edges to grip. I ski mostly park if there isn't pow, but I take them down steep crud and trannyfinding and bombing groomers regularly and I'm just fine.

Lol

Line's mounting reccomendation is actually -4 from true center. I mounted mine +2 from their mounting point.

Please, tell me more about how they were designed to be mounted true center.

I ride domains centred.

They are excellent in the park, rip GS turns, and are fairly stable for a softer ski (you can haul ass if necessary). I'm very pleased with mine. Also work fine on a soft day too. People need to get a rip on the whole "can't ride narrow skis in pow thing", look at Glen Plake in the 1990s.

Ah, arrogancy mixed with ignorance.

1) The Chronics are NOT designed to be center mounted. The suggested mounting point is not at true center, and neither is the narrowest point of the sidecut. Mounting them a centimeter or two behind true center won't do shit for the swing weight.

2) Of course it's more about the skier than the skis. That, however, is completely irrelevant here. Since he's already getting new skis, why not get the best possible option? "It's more about the skier than the skis" boils down to something like "just get whatever, it doesn't matter". It does matter. There are real differences between skis, and these differences make different skis excel at different things. For the Domains it's being awesome at jibbing in the park all day, for the Chronics it's stability and versatility all-mountain without sacrificing park performance.

3) Sure, it's possible to do all of that on the Domains. That's a pretty stupid argument though. Just because a ski can do some things, doesn't mean it's the best alternative for them. Sometimes my friend cruises the park and groomers on his Line EP Pros, but he doesn't go around touting their all-mountain versatility. There's a difference between what a ski can do and what it's good at.

Griffons are alright, especially if you're a smaller guy. Jesters are more durable. And I really, really don't recommend center mounting.

thanks. Now it makes sense. Skis are made to do certain things and make it easier but its not like they are unable to everything else. I'm now thinkin to go with an all mountain ski since I do that more and chronics would be fine in the park too. Thanks so much.
