Does waxing your skis affect sliding on rails?

Once 7 years ago this kid told me that waxing your skis makes you stick more on rails. He was a comp kid so I believed but he loved to mess around w me so I don't know is he right?

I imagine thats true but doesnt make much of a difference. wax definitely slides slower than metal I cant imagine it making a difference on rails maybe boxes more.

100% ski wax makes the rails slide better

no one can convince me otherwise

I can absolutely feel myself sliding worse on rails as my bases dry out. I typically wax my skis every ~5 days of park skiing

I've had the exact same experience.

yeah I think it makes a difference especially if it’s a tube or pill that’s super dry and almost has a layer of rust on it (like after the sun sets on a slushy day and it gets real icy/cold). Def slides better with a waxed ski in that situation.

that being said I can very vividly remember sticking to a tube like a mf because I was 14 and didn’t understand the importance of scraping off all the excess wax lol.

I think both of those instances become less intensified the skinnier a rail is.
