Does the weight matter?

I just bout brand new armada edollo skis size 164 and paired them with look pivot 15gw. I noticed the bindings feel very heavy and as a smaller person was wondering if that would affect me? I am a advanced skier and I am going to use them mainly in park and some all mountain. Should I return them and get different bindings?

How much you weight ? If your a very light skier then the 15s where not the move

also congrats on the skis

Just rock them. You’ll be fine. They’re great bindings as long as they’re within your din range.

if you absolutely want to go lighter and already drilled grab some pivot 14’s. Same mounting pattern but plastic toes do slightly lighter.

you’d have no problem selling the 15’s. What color are they?

Got the gold and a really good deal so I might even be able to sell for profit

Lighter bindings will make the ski feel only marginally lighter on snow. This guy's got the right idea just go down to the pivot 12 or 14 depending on what you run your din at so no extra holes

I weigh in at the 120-130 range haven’t checked in a sec

Theres a 135 gram difference between the pivot 14 and 15. Thats the Weight of an AA battery. Unless your a gram counting backcountry nerd (we do exist on NS), don’t worry about weight. You’ll be just fine.

Really the weight is that small? Definitely going to keep them now. Thanks a bunch ?

Quick edit- i read the type of battery wrong. Its about the same as a type d, which is a little more. 130 grams is less than a baseball according to a google search. Still negligible

bindings have no noticeable impact on how heavy the skis feel. I'm far from being knowledgeable about physics, but the bindings are so close to the center of the axis of rotation that there's a negligible impact on swing weight. Riding skis that get wider towards the tip and tail will have a more noticeable impact

If your spinning. We're talking about swing weight.

Overall the weight of the binding is slightly noticeable, and the ski/binding combo is very noticeable jumping from ski to ski, but it's easy to get used to and a lot of factors go into how light the ski feels on snow.

I think that's the key. Even if there is a noticeable difference while riding (which I personally doubt there is in most cases) it's definitely easy to get used to.

Every time i read one of your replys i think it in Patrick Batemans voice.

Well for not knowing much about it you're spot on about the physics, Inertia is an integrated effect of mass times distance to the CoG squared. In other words a weight twice as far from the axis of rotation has four times the impact on the swing weight

yeah definitely don't worry about that OP, those are top shelf bindings. the weight is definitely not something a downhill skier needs to worry about
