Does sand skiing exist? Could it?

Me n ma bro Mahmud were joking bout this yesterday but it got me wondering.. is it actually possible? I mean if anyone saw every third thursday episode where they made a heated base, he explained that the reason skis/snowboards move is because they melt the layer between the base and the snow.. So with he right base wax (im thinking something that can withstand higher temperatures) could it be possible?

I came here to post this.

Come on OP. You have to watch all of the Traveling Circus episodes before you can ask questions like this

I've seen em all... tbh pretty hard to see em only once.. forgot bout the sand ski segment though.. good points have been raised.. Im a tool.

you know the "melt" layer is the snow melting not the wax right

Yup, so some sort of ski that had a rough ice base srayed and fixed on before going? Just a thought..

all you gotta do is make a freezer with a mold that makes ice blocks ~a few inches thick that you somehow attach perfectly to your bases. simple!

then you bring 20 of them with you and keep them in a cooler with the beer and youre setttt

My dad built some sand skis with a Formica base when I was living in Taos. They slid amazingly better than regular wax base skis.

I wanna see an east coaster hit up Kitty Hawk and slay some big dune lines, If I can remember correctly the dunes there were super steep, but then again I was a lil one.

What about grass skiing? Has anyone done that?

bit of a claim here i know, but i was hitting a grass gap in the spring where you dropped a good 20-25 feet to a steep corn landing. i came up short one day, leaned back a bit, landed on grass and rocks and skied away. haha couldn't believe it, next day it had melted out a lot so the gap was bigger and the landing smaller. since i skied out from rocks the day before i was feelin pretty confident. needless to say i did a couple tomahawks and then slid through another rocky grass patch on my back.

did it recently, as long as you have soapy water or all the toilet supplies you stole from campus (heheh) you get enough speed for some small rails or jibs... gd laugh too :)
