Does Mt Hood Meadows Offer the gnarliest indbounds terrain in OR?

]Reopening this thread to remind everyone that skibowl is sick and if you can't ski 50 degree trees while it's dumping rain then you cant ski.

Lol. Meadows will be sick this weekend so everyone should just go ski there. haha Chairs at Skibowl are slow and best avoided if there is any snow in the forecast. Park at the main lot at MHM and ride right on up the MHX to the goodz

I think Heather canyon is the only terrain I've ever been on anywhere that should be regarded as "sidecountry" since they do avalanche mitigation but don't exactly patrol it.

That being said, Meadows offers some stuff inbounds that is so hard to get to or difficult to actually ski that you can always find fresh turns somewhere.

Speaking of heather canyon and avalanches, someone got fully buried the other week and nobody seems to know about it. This was posted in the TGR Oregon thread -

Be careful out there

I mean the park matters to a pretty small segment of people, most people who might take a lap through the park dgaf about the quality. Terrain parks aren't bringing money into a resort, to most people it doesn't matter at all, I wouldn't be surprised if we see less and less parks in the future because all that matters in the ski resort industry is making money.

Defining the resort is certainly a subjective matter, but in the context of this thread, were talking about "gnarly inbounds terrain" and meadows is not on the top of that list.

false. Look at nearly every "resort" in the midwest. Better parks = more business.

You honestly think park skiing keeps midwest mountains open? Bro c'mon, 5% of skiers care about having a park at the mountain.

I honestly think it's a pretty big motive as well as racing. Look at Trollhaugen for example. 95% of their marketing is towards their parks and it shows when you look at how many people crowd up the rope tow on a daily basis.

Especially when there are multiple hills within a 50-mile radius of each other and hills are trying to stand out from others.

I'll be honest, I have never skied at them, but from videos/pictures i've seen, it seems like there is still a large majority of skiers not skiing the park. Obviously a rope tow on a park is all park skiers, but most mountains have more terrain than park, know what i'm saying? Ski resorts in general are still catering to normal skiers, park skiing is a very small niche of a very small niche.

As someone who has skied hood. A ton..

Skibowl has the best terrain when the snow is good if it happens. It's also a ton of fun to night ski when ever! Timberlines.night skiing is not bad. Better lighting. Medows has great terrain

Now. Meadows does get the worst average weather since it faces east north. So it gets a ton of fucky weather from the gorge (all of hood get fucky weather all the time)

For some reason. Meadows has the worst vibe on the mtn.

Tldr. The best skiing on hood is at Summit and cooper spur!

hell yeah I haven’t been over to cooper spur in years but that place is dank. Also skiing summit 100% makes me smile

If you explore it a bit there are some sick features and terrain. Love that resort... except for the excessive crowds before noon (opens at 9am)
