Does anyone go to Univ. Glascgow?

I go to Uni in St Andrews, but I grew up in Glasgow and know the place real well. I guess you really only care about what the skiing situ is like and I'll be hoenst the UK is not a hotbed of epic skiing. Theres indoor slopes and dryslopes and if your lucky enough some snow up in the Highlands on Glenshee and Aviemore.
What is good new with Glasgow Uni is that the ski club GUSSC is awesome. They may not have the greatest skiing to go to but the always attend the British Uni comps which are epic and they are definately one of the funnest ones to be a part of. In addition to this they run a banger of a trip to France every year and will definately take you to BUSC (British Uni Ski Champs), which is easily the best two weeks of any skiing students year as its about 3000 of us in the Alps going crazy and having a sick time. This year for instance were getting the x-games halfpipe left up after Tignes, which will be epic.

Are you been serious.. This past winter was one of the best. Cairngorm was only closed for 144 days over the summer. There now open again for winter 2010/2010, with only the funicular running at this moment.
And when you said "I'ii be honest the UK is not the hotbed of epic skiing" Let me tell you, i could list many mountains around scotland what wouldn't look out of place in chamonix or even la grave.

Ok I apprecate that those wouldn't look out of place. I think the question was more about the skiing scene at unis though and most of the stuff surrounding universities doesnt include those areas. Its based on dryslope and indoor with an occasional event on realy snow (I'm thinking SUDS from last year), but the on snow ones aren't offical.
So yes the sking CAN be good in Scotland, but for a student whose into his skiing the cheapest and best option is to join the clubs that are around then the UK is the most fantastic place in Europe to go ski.

I guess i went off on one again. I have all ways been really passionate about scottish skiing and ski touring. Skiing and touring in scotland is sort of unique in away. You never no what the conditions are going to be like the next day.
If i had that chance to head out to the alps for 3 days, i would take it. I'm probably a lot poorer than most students. I would like to get back out to tignes for the winter again and not have to work. But what ever way i look at it, it isn't goiing to happen. I can't really be assed with coming from one shit job i have been slaving away at all summer, them go out to tignes and find another shit job. That just takes the whole fun out of doing a season.
