I was listening to lots of rap/hiphop. Got tired it one day and now its pretty much just Classic rock for me. I like it for skiing alot better too.
 
Don't like rap as in Gucci MANG, and those fake thugging queers, but i do like R&B alt like Cudi, Lupe, and others of that genre, and way old school rap as in Snoop and biggie and 2pac, so yea i guess?
 
in like kindergarten i liked some rap when i learned to turn on the radio, then i hated all rap years later when i was hearing bow wow/50 cent SHIT from people playing it, and now I like good rap(aka, not the main stuff which is all total SHIT, MOSTLY FOR PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE A NIGGA GANGSTA, even though they are pale white and apparently have enough money to ski).

I think "rap" is too vague, since there is nothing similar to what I call good rap and what most kids are listening to.

hip-hop

reggae

lil dubstep

instrumental stuff (tired eyes like stuff)

and jimi hendrix are all i listen to
 
Listen to the album illmatic and your view on hip hop/rap will change. Having said that, current mainstream rap coming from the likes of lil' wayne is an absolute joke... aside from maybe 2 or 3 songs being the exception.
 
a lot of times i prefer rock, but rap can also be hella fun to listen

IMO, rap is not usually regarded as music. Dont get me wrong i like listening to rap but theres no singing in rap, its poetry regarding a lifestyle that many people that listen to it dont even relate to. But, fuck it. Alot of rap can be fun to listen to it just dont start comparing Biggie Smalls to the Rolling Stones and shit like that is my main point here

Maybe you should learn was music is, because rap is every bit as musical as The Rolling Stones. The format is different, but it consists of rhythms, tones, progressions; tensions and releases. Sure, it is more lyric-oriented, but it's still music.

Having said that, I can't stand rap that is too lyric-oriented. It has to have some instrumental focus and depth to it (ie Dr. Dre), which would be hip-hop. If its just a bunch of samples or 4 notes on loop then I would rather stab my ears with knitting needles.
 
Atmosphere, Cunninlynguists, Immortal Technique and Tupac. They're the only rap/hip hop/r&b artists I can stand. Everything else is just shit to me.
 
Its not really possible to hate a whole genre of music, there's some rap out there that you like, you just havent heard it yet. I used to hate rap with the passion of a million burning suns but then i found some that I liked and now theres really nothing that i wont listen to. Just keep your mind open.
 
I agree with most people, I don't hate it... in fact there is some I really like (atmosphere, murs, kid cudi, immortal technique) but I really only like it sometimes, granted that everyone who has a brain knows that the only good rap can't be found on the radio, it does seem like too many people are only into rap, need to broaden horizons, try new stuff. experience is the beauty of life
 
we just arent as hardcore as you i guess

I have super varied music tastes, but i defintely like lots of hip hop, in particular lupe, wutang, blue scholars, brother ali,etc and of course classic stuff. But im also into jam bands, lots of alternative stuff and classic rock, and some blues
 
i do not hate rap. but i pretty much like all music, my ipod is absurdly random.

except country. cant stand country. other than johnny cash. because its impossible to hate johnny cash
 
haha that song is actually sick. but i consider that more like folk-rock than country.

i hate like radio country more than anything though.
