Does anyone else agree with my parents?

So I have I am failing math but I have either an A or a B in the rest of my classes and they arent letting me go skiing for the next two weeks when I wasnt able to go last week either. Also I'm in 8th grade so its not like its really effecting me.
 
if you fail at math now, it is bad signs for the future... thats all i can say

however, maybe come up with a compromise.... say "hey mum, if i study maths for an hour a night can i go skiing?" or somthing like that... mix work and play
 
The real question is how are you failing 8th grade math?If you can't get through that, you're going to have trouble in the future.

If you are failing 8th grade math, things aren't looking so hot for your future math classes that get much tougher. Just sack up and put in the extra work and study. Also, try to work out a deal with them like someone else said. Study math for an hour each night, go in for extra homework help with the teacher either before or after school, and get learned!
 
1. Clean your room with out your mom telling you to.
2. Do something you would make her feel good.
3. Let her see you study your math for like an hour or two.

dude just suck it up, i mean im no genius when it comes to math but i still passed pre-algebra, algebra, and am currently passing algebra 2, so good luck, havent taken geometry yet.....
but yeah get serious and definatly see if you can move to the front of the class, like earlier this year i was in the back of algebra 2 and was getting a D- so i moved to the front so i couldnt screw around and now im getting a C.... lol
 
i agree. Math is one of those classes that a broad spectrum of careers uses, and failing that is closing a bunch of doors on yourself.

 
Just to give the kid an easier outlook on life.. I've struggled with math my entire life, I blow at it. Just because you're failing now doesn't mean you'll fail math forever. just put some effort into it and get your teacher to help
 
yeah, math is kind of important. you're right no one will look at your grade 8 math grade and care, but if you fail, well... obviously, but also, if you don't know geometry, you're screwed in life. study hard, if you start to get it, make a deal with your rents like someone else said. sometimes though, schools gotta come first.

Now I have a 4.0 gpa for all my math courses in college.

I can understand your parents grounding you to be quite honest. Just try bring that math grade up. I'm sure your parents and teacher will be more than happy to help you if you really show some effort. It's not too late to be good at math, don't give up.

Don't even ask to go skiing for at least a week or two (I realize that's pretty close to the end of the season) and I bet if they've seen you try to get extra help and putting in the effort they will definitely let you ski a few times before the end of the season.

school gets hard around 11th grade, and still it's not that hard if you put some time into it
 
god my mom is like that too! cause i have a d- in british literature(worst class ever) but a's in every other class but now i cant go skiing with friends til i get it up to a c...it sucks
 
Get caught up if you can and have the teacher print out a report of how well your doing or email the teacher and print her response and show your mom. The sooner you do it, the sooner you can ski.
 
you must have a really hard geometry class or be absolutely retarded cause i took geometry, didnt do shit, and had Bs all year
 
all the people above me say study and review. but math is a concept that you either comes natural or is a bitch. true, if you are having troubles now, math becomes much more complex in high school and so forth. try to go in for extra help so it shows your teacher you care and you parents, and if you fail then, u can say well iam really trying hard to do well. hope it works out for you
 
not true... i failed all my math classes in middle school.

iv had straight A's in math all the high school. and i its my fav. subject. middle school is just weird..ha
 
Ha, middle school grades don't even matter, you just relearn everything in highschool.
 
wtf youur all getting grounded for failing im getting grounded for getting a 73 in chem when im getting 93 in english 90 in math 85 in physics and 89 in BC first nations studies all grade 12 courses and i cant ski for 2 weeks. FML!
 
i have had straights A's my entire life (i'm homeschooled....homeschoolers get good grades or else their parents starve them)

but i currently have a 78% in chemistry, and my parents act like it is the end of the world. got a C in first semester, but have been pretty much acing all of the tests, and after you add the graded labs/problems i will come out with a high B.

you all have no idea until you are homeschooled. imagine your mom teaching you EVERY. SINGLE. CLASS.

 
the only way to fail a mid school class is to not give a shit and not do shit. i suggest you start giving at least some what of a shit, and start doing your shit. i know you are not doing your HW
 
i didnt study for one test or quiz in grade 11 or 12 and didnt do one piece of work until the morning it was due, and i managed an 81% average, so, its really not that hard.
 
math is so easy in elementary school, theres no reason that you should be failing. just put in the extra time to study.
 
holy shit you suck i got like mid 80s not trying at all and im in 9th now and im pretty much failing math and im actually trying so your pretty much boned
 
when i waw in eighth grade math, i didn't do any of the homework till the 5 minute break before math class and still got an A.
So either study up so you can go skiing,or find the correct answers online, once again, so you can go skiing
 
dont fuck up now, trust me, im doing so bad in math right now, i would kill to be able to go back and change that shit,failing 8th grade math tho, thats sad, i REALLY suck at math, but 8th grade math is easy shit, just do your hw n shit,, if your failing now, highschool math is gonna literally be impossible
 
I think that you should just do some extra credit or something like that. Show some effort and maybe your parents will feel fo you. Yeah middle school doesn't really matter. Make a deal with them. Good luck.

 
just show some effort and maybe the grades dont lighten up. As long as you dont light a desk on fire or some shit like that you will be fine. Actually lighting a desk on fire is still fine in middle school. its grade 8 for fucks sake.
