Does anybody else not enjoy watching skiing?

My love and dedication to skiing are so strong, yet even the thought of watching edits, movies, events, etc. has never interested me. I can't really explain my dislike for media, but getting out and skiing is the only part of the sport that trips my trigger.

Who else is uncultured swine?

It's not something I spend time doing. Occasionally I'll click on something to watch for a minute and I have seen some that I'd like to emulate but I don't really understand the fascination especially with pure park/rail edits and anything POV. I'd rather get out there and do.

Biggest appeal for me is

The music that is matched to the segment.

Good music makes

An edit truly pleasurable to watch.

At least for me.

I stopped buying level 1 vids after eye trip bc the fresh and original style of music in high five

Through refresh seemed to die and get replaced by off kilter garbage from eye trip on.

Ski movie music should always have deeply emotive music like fischerspooner or ladytron.

I wouldnt watch even the best edits out if they had

Shitty degenerate melodies

This is so true. I think its why I really enjoy TGR movies.

MSP films are on point - but the music is sometimes less thrilling.

Then again I thought Hoji was great.

I really enjoy watching ski films. For me its a documentation of the sport and its cool to see the progression from way back during the Warren Miller days to the edits coming out this season. I am 30 now and have been skiing all my life and have always felt part of the community and in my own small way have helped it grow. The only movie I didnt like was Mutiny, skiing is supposed to be something positive and the movie was more like a desperate push to progress urban while sacrificing their own happiness and well being which was a real vibe killer.

I used to like watching when I was younger and had the aspirations to go bigger and better. I still aspire to improve at 33 (tho I’ve only been on the mountain one day this year), but yea watching guys do triple corks or 1880 future spins in comps and 450 on/off rails doesn’t tickle my motivation. I think the problem is freestyle has become aerials and it’s so hard to distinguish between winning run and 6th place.

But it’s still fun to watch and try my best to judge. But I’m absolutely loving watching the womens comps now. Remember back when they did 540s in big comp to keep it “fundamental” or whatever they called it. Meaning no women were pushing the others. But finally (maybe because Sildaru?) the women are stepping up their game so big now and it’s so fun to watch. Five years ago I could have competed with the women in X games slopestyle, now forget it. So it’s pretty fun watching them progress at such an obvious pace now

I like edits and recaps, but I can never watch Xgames all the way through. My attention span is lacking and comps are boring.

I can relate somewhat. I don't like watching any big events such as X-Games or FWT, but I'll watch the same damn edits over and over again.

My theory is that I relate to the edits more. Will I ever throw a dub 10? Probably not. Will I do a 2 pretz 2? Eventually, even if it looks like a donkeys asshole.

Love watching edits

comps vary though. XG Big air this year was kinda dull imo, everybody was either doing triple corks or dub corks with double grabs (the first few were cool but then got a little stale). Compare it to XG big aid a few years back...henrik doing huge nosebutter trips, Kai taking massive triples to the parking lot and vinny g doing dub 16s genie or whatever. Just the variation made it so much more engaging imo even though everybody was still spinning a lot
