Does Alta/Snowbird have crowds over president's weekend?

Snowbird more than Alta, unless it's a pow day the both will be gridlock status. If you are visiting and buying tickets and therefore can go anywhere, I would go to solitude or brighton to dodge the crowds. I would say that for most weekends, let alone a holiday weekend.

Alta/bird are tight and if you live in Utah and have weekdays to ski they are epic, but a pow day saturday at snowbird is like going to the mall dec. 23rd.

Yeah dude, skiing weekends sucks i hate when it snows on friday nights, its like god slapping me in the face. Weekdays are the illest.

Presidents Day Weekend is almost the record setting weekend for all Utah ski resorts year after year. It is every single ski resorts busiest weekend of the year in Utah. The only exception is Deer Valley which limits their daily lift ticket sales to 7500...

It really doesn't matter what the weather is, it is crowded at every resort every year that weekend.

never seen it legitimatly crowded(to most peoples standards) at brighton..love that place

I agree Brighton never feels crowded especially on snake, gw, and Milly. I think it is because there are more intermediates and park rats that stick to crest/majestic. I think snowbird feels crowded because more people there a pretty good big mountain pow skiers, that all want to ski the same terrain, attack the mountain In a similar fashion, and are in the "know" about what gates are opening next.

As far as deer valley that 7500 is actually not a hard number. I had this conversation with one of the upstairs managers the other day. They let more than that in on Christmas day this year. It all depends on conditions. On a warm blue bird day they let a lot in, they say because the restaurant capacity is much larger when folks are willing to eat outside. Thus they actually limit more strigently on days it is dumping, which is great!

Sorry for the double post, but had another thought... If you really want to avoid crowds on presidents weekend, go to solitude. You can find good terrian back in honeycomb, fantasy ridge, headwall forest, etc.... There just isn't as much as the bird/alta... I'm not sure I have ever waited in a line there, other than waiting for summit to open... If its a pow day pm me and I can give ya a solid attack plan for your first few runs and the order things 'nomally' open.
