Yeah, he definitely does more than the average batter, but that doesn't mean pitchers don't do it intentionally. If they see a guy leaning in, they might try to pitch it inside to try to send a message and get him to back off. Now, when either side refuses to cave in, somethings gotta give.
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve getting hit so many times. But, when his batting stance is habitual and the only position that he feels comfortable in, I can sympathize and say that I can't blame him for snapping for the first time after he'd been hit by the same dude a couple of times before.
