Doctor NS, help me out!

So yesterday I kinda fell on my wrist and it hurt pretty bad, I iced it for a few hours and relaxed the rest of the day. I bought a $25 wrist-type splint which has been keeping it pretty stable and not too much pain.

I can move my wrist up and down all the way with no pain, but moving it side to side hurts. The pain is on the inside part of my wrist in the little notch between your thumb and the Radius bone. There is also a pretty consistent dull pain when I'm not moving it. There is a little swelling and pretty much no bruising. I am planning on going to the doctor tomorrow, but I would like to know whether it sounds more like a sprain or some kind of hairline fracture. I'm assuming that since there is not a lot of swelling that it is not a serious fracture.

Thanks for helping me out +k

i lov u guyz

so it sounds like you have an in-bone, hairline fracture. I am 4th year in medical school right now, i actually just worked on a patient with a hairline fracture in her pelvis. completely different situation though, pelvis fractures are much worse. This woman (or should i say, young lady) was experiencing pain in her waist/hip area, she came in and my professor told me i could take the case, so got to do everything. so she came in and i asked her to remove her pants and undergarments, might i say, it was a very tight slit i was looking at, so i got in there and felt around for a bit and sure enough, hairline fracture!! i knew it. she asked me what would help and i said i dont know and let my professor do the rest. like i said, hip is very different from wrist, your wrist should be fine in a few weeks.

I fell on my wrist in december, and had similar symptoms. I did not think much of it but after almost two months it still hurt a little, and I did not have full mobility. I finally got X-Rays, and found out I had broken my scaphoid which a larger bone in your wrist between your thumb and radius. I got a screw put in mid february, and I am still in a cast. I should be getting the cast off on May 3rd.I would go get X-Rays, and hopefully avoid surgery.

Ah yes the famous pelvis fracture. The only way to find one is to reach in the patients asshole/poone and feel your way through.

I had this exact same thing, pain in the same spot and everything only it also hurt to move my wrist up. Turned out to be a severe bruising on three of the little bones in my wrist and 2 months later it still hurts. Doctor said the type of bruising I have takes longer to heal than a fracture, it blows

Doctor said I probably had a torn/ strained ligament. No scaphoid fracture visible on X-ray but I am going back in 2 weeks if there is still pain.

Thanks everyone

Damn! Your the guy that got that case from the prof. Everyone thinks of you as a legend now around here!!

My doc originally thought I strained a ligament in my thumb...Turned out to be a full tear of both ligaments and a break...

So I ended up with this contraption
