Do your feet move in your boot when you butter?

I got fitted for boots today for the first time ever. I’m coming from super old full tilts and went with technica mach 1’s. They feel great, but I feel like they’re too comfortable lol and after trying them on over and over now I’m wondering how all of your guys boots feel when you butter especially. Are you locked in the whole way or do you have some slight foot/heel movement when pressing into it? They say to go to a boot fitter but I’m pretty sure mine just wanted my money because I’m having second thoughts, as I don’t feel completely locked in when pressing forward, but the fitter insisted that they were my size. I’m a size 10 shoe and he put me in 27.5’s. And words of wisdom is appreciated.

What was wrong with the Full Tilts OP?

They were chair 6’s from like 2014 and pretty much ruined skiing for me because of how much pain I was in every day while skiing on them. I sucked it up for years but now I’m over it and it’s time for new ones haha. No hate on full tilt. Those boots were just not for me.

how many finger spaces in just the shell? like put it on without the liner. Also how hard do you crank the buckles down? Im a size 11 and have a 27.5 with a low volume liner and have just barely one finger space in my shell, I dont move much when im pressing if at all.

i have a good amount of movement. its not ideal, it should be a tighter fit, but my feet are small, flat and wide, and my calves are bigger than normal. i wear a 10 shoe but a 26.5 dalbello ilmoro wide. my flat foot means i have to make my middle buckle really tight and the rest loose, but its still not enough to hold my ankle all the way down. ive accepted ski boots won't ever be perfect for me without big money and i dont care anymore

Didn’t before but since the liner is packing out, just a smidge. Nothing too bad, but definitely can cause my heel to lift if I try

Like 1 and a half fingers maybe a little under 2 fingers. I haven’t cranked the buckles down too hard yet, the boot fitter told me I shouldn’t have to if the boot fits right. If I am in the boot and try and stand on my tippy toes my heel rises a little bit when I force it which I’m not sure is normal.

If you’re just standing there, pretty much anyone can raise their heel a tad. What matters is when you use your shins and engage the boot. That’s when your heel should slide back and lock in place.

I also ski Mach1s for what it’s worth

I have a very small amount of foot movement sometimes but it doesn't bother me, I like to run a lil loose for comfort. If I'm doing anything really crazy sometimes I'll crank it down just for a minute and my feet are totally locked in place. I use FT B&E's for reference.

What size shoe are you and what size Mach 1s do you have?

Nah my feet don't move in my boot during a butter if I get them buckled properly. The problem is I wear different socks a lot and this changes how I buckle so each day it takes a little trial and error. When buttering I really think about pushing through the ball of my foot, not so much the shin.

My feet be moving like crazy and my boots are loose as fuck and I hate it. I can feel the margin of control I lose cuz the boots are too loose and soft. Such is life tho

having your ankle locked down and no upward movement was a big fix for me. Went from race boots to ft kicker, then k2 revolver team. I usually have the middle buckle tight as possible, and no movement since. Could be your boot, or sizing. Four piece boots I've had before just weren't as good for buttering for me

Did you get them fitted at sportcheck??

You may have a deviated arch!

Honestly DM me, I've been a technician for about a decade. Even worked with Dr.Schoels at 1 point.

You think shoe size is an accurate way to determine mondo size.

LOL fuck off back to reddit, you dumb piece of shit.

Ohhh if you learned to uncross your gaped fucking eyes and read you would see that those words are absolutely nowhere on this thread and you’re making shit up now? What’s good with you? Are you good bro? Let me know if you want to let anything off your chest I got you :)

It doesn't really mean much, but I'm a 11 shoe and wear a 27 shell. My feet don't move at all, I've spent a lot of time grinding microns here and there to get it just right. If you want a performance fit, you have to tell your boot fitter that and be ready to spend more time working on them.

Oh right, you only asked what shoe size he was for shits and giggles.

Come on, pussy. Let's see where that line of questioning was going.

had trouble with heel lock for some time. went to my local ski shop and got some foam pads to put on the liner and the fit got way better.
