Do you work as a Lift attendant?

well i'm not a lift attendant, so i probably shouldnt be answering this, but i think it would be fun if your outgoing enough to talk to some people getting on the lift. but its probably damn cold some nights.

im not gonna say im better than you but dude a lifty job would blow!! whats the last think you lile doing when skiing?, standing in a mother fucking line! well your the dickhead in charge of it all so everyone hates you , unless your a hot fucking aussie chick . we get lot of those here in tahoe...,,mmmmmmmmm

lift attendant usually gets you a free pass... all my friend were lifties last summer back in whistler, so just relax, that kinda job doesnt require a high level iq... just be yourself and try to hide that dead foetus hanging from tghe side of your head

What are you talking about? The lift can only take up a certain amount of people per hour. It is not like the operator can magicaly make it go faster. Honestly think a little before you write dumb stuff.

your the fucker screwing up the lines and shit and lettign people go who just showed up when youve been there for an hour.. lifty job would blow. bottom feeder of the ski industry and you make shut fuck no money and have to stand out it shitty weather.

I was one, fucking cold sometimes, but yeah free pass. If you can try and get a job in the pro shop, or instructing because those jobs are way cooler. being a liftee can be a no brainer at times. But it sucks at a t-bar when someone sucks and cant get up so they blame you. I would get so much disrespect sometimes, like people would bitch to me all the hills problems, i was like Im the the hill fucking manager! Sometimes it was like baby sitting you have to yell at kids for budging, or throwing snow. And everytime the lift stopped it was always the lifties fault. Not the kid getting dragged by a t-bar, or derail of the t-bar.

it was ok, but i like instructiing and pro shop much more much more!

It's got its ups and its downs.

Ups: you're not a twinkie (ski instructor)

Downs: you're a lifty

It's basically a slack ass job where you do nothing but freeze and hold responiblity for peoples lives in your hands. Keep in mind that you're operating a massive peice of machinery, and if other people working on the mountain (i.e. ski instructors) don't respect you for it they're asses and that's it. That being said however, don't be an ass yourself and let the skis instructors kids get clobered by the chair. Follow protocal, and keep your hand on the yellow button when kids and begineers are around, and don't be afraid of the lift maintence guys and life will be merry.

Oh, and #1 one thing to not being an ass (and having a good time) when working any job at a resort; remember that while people in other departments may not deal with the same shit as you, they have plenty of shit of their own. Different flavour maybe, but still shit.

Examples of shit:

Lifty: Cold, asshole adult ski instructors

Kid's Ski Instructors: Kids, asshole lift ops supervisors, parents, injured kids, being hit by snowboarders, losing kids, having a kid rip your knee apart because ran into the tail of your ski while you where doing a snowplow. Dealing with the fact that a six-year-old girl under your care may now be paralysed (turns out she was fine, but I didn't find out for 5 hours). Being one of the best skiers of all the people you work with, but not being able to teach kids that can even ski parallel cause some aussie has been there longer, working on a pow day, and asshole adult ski instructors.

Patrol: Cold. Search and rescue. Dead people. Dead kids. Snow fence. Asshole adult ski instructors.

Cook: bing in a kitchen when you could be outside.

Rentals: tourists who left their brains at home but brought their five kids, rental boots. Not being outside.

Guest services: guests, not being outside, asshole adult ski instructors

adult snowboard instructors: asshole adult ski instructors.

adult ski instructors: working in the most hated department, having an asshole adult ski instructor for a boss.

Well, I doubt that helped, but fuck it, I enjoyed ranting.

Thanks TAK, I am a little worried about the responsibility thing. But I see some of the people working the lift at my hill back home and then i think that i probably shouldn't worry about it. Time will tell.

i was a ticket checker when i was 15, its gay, you sit in the cold and watch everyone go by and have a great time and your miserable because your getting paid minimum wage to stand outside in the cold all day. but you get a free pass

Park crew: cold, dealing with hoardes of pro-hoes and 18 year-old female kids ski school instructwhores (hahahaha, I'm so funny), and of course dumbass asshole ski school instructors who think the top of a table-top (no joke... I've seen it) is a great place to talk to their equally clueless students about the finer points of counter-rotation and anglulation through phase 3 of a long radius dynamic turn.

And don't worry about the responibility involved, you'll get used to it and it'll help you mature. If you get the job, take it.

the ski industry can be a fun place if you get the right job, but i agree with tak i HATE ski instructors (the adult ones) im so sick and tired of their shit, they think they are so good and talk them selves up but when they have the chance to go in a race course or in the park they all wus out because they know i would kick their asses but will never admit it because they have there level 3-4 and that automaticly makes them better than me.

Does anyone else want to help me take out the CSIA and start up a way better system of ski instructors ??

Just you constly masterbate 5 times a day, for the last 6 years, so you have strong sterdy hands.

I very much hate some ski instructors for thinking they are cool. But I am myself am a kid instructorand do it because well I love skiing, and like the feel of passing it on. And well if i get a job at a ski hill i might as well be out on the hill.

The only job onthe hill i liked more, was doing hill repairs, cuz then you get to rip around on a sled, until i crashed it the last day of the season.
