Yes waxing is better, but dudes aren't gonna do that. They're just not. Total non starter.

Shaving lasts for the night of, before it becomes sharp stubble. Not to mention, shaving a sack is difficult and little cuts bleed an alarming amount.

Exactly. A trim is the happy medium where you'll both be happy about it and I've never ever had a lady friend complain about a trim. So I'm going to recommend that. In general though just be clean and you'll be fine.
