Do you downsize your touring skis?

What size touring skis do you use in comparison to your inbounds skis?

My shortest skis are 186cm, my longest 193cm...

Would I be ok with a 184 touring ski, for kick turns, tight trees, or narrow couloirs? Or should I stay in between 186 and 193?

pick a ski your comfortable skiing on and ride that. length, especially a 3 cm difference is insignificant unless you're a serious weight weeny or a ski mountaineer.

also, by those ski lengths i'm assuming your a tall dude like myself. Having a shorter ski to do kick turns and ski tight trees wont help you out it will only hinder you. mounting the same 186 or 193 ski further back from center will help you more than a shorter ski.

Most of my skis are 186/184s, but I dropped to the 174 version for my skinnier touring option this season and didn't regret it at all. Paired with a longer, wider option for midwinter touring, I think it's a good call.

I disagree with the idea that skiing smaller/ or shorter skis will somehow make touring better.

Some of the biggest skis I own are for touring. I couldn't imagine downsizing.

To each their own i guess.

Well the only obvious advantage is weight. Other than that if you're short like me kick turns on 188s can get a bit awkward but how else am i going to fknsndr if i aint got on some shred sticks?!
