Do Yall Care about Halfpipe??

depends on who's droppin' in. if it's AJ Kempaanen (sp?) or Duncan Adams, I care.
too bad 99% of the pipe skiing we see is contest footage. i wish film segments had more pipes, hips, and backcountry quarterpipes. there are probably more flatground tricks (e.g., butters) than pipe tricks in this year's films.
 
pipe is ridiculous. requires sooooo much skill and balls. i can't do it worth a goddamn but it's pretty awesome to watch.
 
A good skier can ride a halfpipe. Halfpipe is too difficult for most people, so most people hate it. Go out and learn it and it's some of the most fun riding.
Not to mention it takes mega balls and unbelievable skill. I care and always will care about halfpipe skiing.
 
I'm from NJ and I haven't skiied pipe in a few years now...most mountains that do get up halfpipes around here end up sucking and its a huge waste of time/snow/labor/energy and they're only up for the very end of the year and they end up sucking.

Don't get me wrong I love skiing a good half pipe, but I never really consider it a big part of the sport just cause so many people never see one...plus your edges have to be good for it and no one who skis park has edges.

Also I mean I obviously love watching it in the X games and Dew Tour and what not, but come on, slopestyle is wayyyyy more exciting.
 
honestly i only watch the replays of the xgames pipe runs, dew tour and all that i dont give a fuck about, and i personally hate riding pipe, so i guess no i dont care
 
I used to hate on it, then I moved out west and have got to ride a few good ones and now I think it's awesome, especially in the spring
 
i love riding it, but i can only fakies, and 360's.
honestly, slopestyle and big air are waaaaaaaaaaayyyy more interesting.
but when tanner is in the pipe, i watch the shit out that.
 
Slopestyle all day long. But, if you're there... like standing on the deck of a pipe watching the dew tour or xgames, it's an unreal experience. I mean your right in the middle of the action and can see every hit.
 
pipe is just as sick i think because they bring more competition to it and slope is creative and different
 
I love pipe. There is just something about boosting out of a icy pipe on a cold sunny morning that cannot be matched.
 
Fuck yes I do! For everyone saying that they don't care... Pipe skiing is/was pretty much the basis to what we know slopestyle skiing as today.
 
im not good at pipe but its super fun,and watching wise I dont like big tricks, just high slow ally oops.(dont know how to spell that)
 
really? maybe if i said backcountry quarterpipe hits it would ring a bell. i'm talking about cornices, etc. that you can build a jump into and hit like a quarterpipe. and i don't mean backcountry hips, where the landing is at a 45 deg angle from the takeoff.
 
youd think with a few thousand posts he'd understand how to use sarcasm and know what a decently large portion of skiing is. and i care about it
 
things should shift from pipe to more urban stuff.

i say x replaces pipe with a rail jam; skiers and boarders jam together in 2, one hour jam sessions on two different days. first day is an open jam for everyone. 10 boarders, 10 skiers are invited to the Jam. second day, top 5 skiers and top 5 boarders from day 1 advance. would mean if you make the finals you have a good chance at metaling (assuming you have a gold silver and bronze for ski and board independently) so it would encourage ppl to throw down hard in the first jam so they could make it to the second one. i bet it would make good rating if they got creative with it. EX - gaping a whole staircase and tapping another boarders board they are holding up mid air. stuff like that. could be a cool event.
