Do the NS mods ever "merge" threads?

I think the second thread about resorts banning the new burton snowboards got deleted simply because it was a repost (maybe there was another reason for it being deleted that I'm not aware of)

why wouldn't a mod merge the two threads that are essentially the same rather than just delete the second one (if thats the real reason why the second burton thread got deleted)

or maybe they do merge threads and I have never noticed, anyone know whats up?

Having two threads on the same page is increased clutter, thus less topics can fit on the first page. Try using the searchbar, or simply browsing the first couple pages and look for the topic instead.

hahah thanks for trying to help but I dont think you understand what Im saying.

I know how to use the searchbar and I knew the 2nd thread was repost while I was reading it.

obviously its increased clutter, but Im saying that merging them is a better suggestion than just deleting one of them,

this way the kids who didnt know it was a repost can still find the thread under their 'my threads' and access the info

I personally would like to have that control however, its not a frequently requested thing and I imagine that it would be a difficult thing to write into the control. but I don't really know.

There are numerous times when duplicate threads are created and replied to sometimes they are deleted sometimes they are just left. It just depends on who catches what and when and what the topic is about.

thats unnesessary (sp?) it comes down to there only needing to be one thread about one topic. if that certain someone has to search for it instead of go to my threads it would still be much much easier for that one person to deal with that than everyone on this site dealing with clutter

dude

take the replies from the second thread, move them to the first thread, delete the second thread, those who posted in the second thread will have the first thread listed under "my threads"

do you know what the word merge means?

i think that isn't possible under the coding of the NS forums versus something like phpBB

Have you ever considering the possibility of "closing" a thread? That way it can still be viewed, but not posted in (unless you're a mod or admin)?

^That power doesn't exist either. This isn't vbulletin... and even if it was, we wouldn't use the merge stuff that much, it takes fucking forever to do and you end up with super confusing threads. We don't have time. So delete is the order of the day. Speaking of which, if you'll excuse me...

well a little, but the part you quoted was 100% sincere.

at first I was getting annoyed bc people who don't know what they are talking about were saying it was a bad idea, its not a bad idea its just an idea that apparently requires too much work which I am completely fine with
