Do pivot 14s and 15s have the same heel piece?

Hey guys,

Basically I have a pair of pivot 14s with 115mm brakes and a pair of pivot 15s with 130mm brakes. I want to mount the 15s on some 110mm skis so I was wondering if I could sub the heel piece of the 14s for the heel piece of 15s?

Thanks

Yes you could do that and be fine, all pivots use the same heel just with a different spring inside. A shop might not agree to mounting them like that though. You could also swap the brakes if you wanted to keep the pairs matching

Yea I would just swap the dildos and keep your sets matched, even though the only difference in the heelpieces is the actual springs.

Is that something i can do at home or should i bring it to a shop?

With pivots it’s definitely an “if you have to ask, bring them to a shop” situation. Swapping brakes requires some disassembly

Its pretty easy but a shop wont charge you for it so you might has well have them do it

100%. Unscrew the dildo from the brake assembly by turning the two black arms with a phillips head screwdriver. Make sure theres some grease on the threads to prevent issues further down the road. Simply re-screw the dildo onto the brake assembly you want to use. Generally i'll screw the arms down to the second little notch thing on the brake assembly; after which you put the boot in and adjust forward pressure accordingly. Hopefully this makes sense, worst case ontario go to a shop and they should do it for free.
