Do i need to bring both boots for binding mounting? quickie!!

No. One will be fine.

Technically you don't need any boots provided you have your boot sole length and you know how to adjust toe height and forward pressure yourself.

Yup, you don't need to bring them at all, and I'm sure the average retard with a screwdriver could get the forward pressure right. Toe height and the wing adjustments aren't even on Look or Rossi bindings.

at the shop i work at we specificly ask for only one. just cause there isnt a tone of space with all the stuff coming in right now.

some shops will require both boots for testing and making sure they are in goof enough shape to properly work with the bindings. I think both boots are a bit of overkill but from a legal stnad point it makes sense.

A smart shop will refuse to mount and test without both boots, because when you test a setup you are testing the whole system and how well it works together, not just the bindings.

surely if the skis are identical, you can test with one boot??

maybe its a bad thing? but our shop never requires 2 boots, and if someone buys a ski/boot package from us, we will often ask them to take one boot with them and just leave us with skis, boot and bindings..

Never thought of it the way you described though

so in essence you're stating that you always have a left ski and a right ski?, otherwise it shouldn't make a difference

well that was the idea back when they would designate a left ski and a right ski, but times they are a changing.

The thing is, say you're some weekend warrior gomer motherfucker and one of your old ass rear entry boots has a crack in the toe or something, but you don't bring that one into the shop to get your skis mounted with. No, you bring the one that isn't fucked up. So of course the boot/binding system tests fine with that boot. So yay your bindings are working perfectly right? But then you fall and the part of the boot that was cracked breaks off halfway and gets stuck in the binding, and therefore YOU are stuck in the binding, and since you have weak little girl knees you tear some ligaments. Sounds far fetched, but it happens.

techs probably wouldn't even mount with a rear entry boot anymore, they'd claim they're unsafe and make them buy new ones

my shop requires 2 boots. That is because we have a big fancy electrice machine that tests out the din settings. and for older gear, or boots that are worn, the din settings are always different that what the chart says.
