Dji Ronin-M vs Devin Graham Glidecam

Trying to decide between these two right now. Is the electronic gimbal worth it? or should I just go with the Glidecam? Thoughts on either?

These two aren't really something I'd compare head to head. I guess it depends what you want to do with really, like eheath said above.

If you're just looking for smoother shots for skiing, I agree with Eheath, just go with the glidecam and you really can't go wrong

how so though? Besides the additional plate that you can put on for much less money? In terms of stabilization, it looks like it'd be the exact same and for the price difference, unless your rich it's not worth it

I just got a Ronin-M today.

Ultimately, i think glidecam's are a more wellrounded tool

The Ronin is incredible, no doubt, but it isnt as flexible, it has a definite purpose for serious FILM MAKERS.

I dont think the Ronin is really much of an action sports option unless you are going for a certain smooth look. It is either (in my 1 day of experience) super smooth with slow tracking, or not super smooth with fast tracking.

The ronin is also kind of a hassel to balance, but other than that, it is pretty cool.

In my mind, the big benefit of a gimbal is the ability to give it to a friend and get useable footage straight away. When you give a friend a glidecam, 9 times out of 10 the shots are horrible and shaky.

gimbals as a main tool of stabilization for action sports are not as good as a glide cam. They only react so fast. With a glide cam you can pan and tilt as fast as your hand can. Your reactions are linked to your brain. With a gimbal it is all the computer. Also a gimbal is electronic. If your in the field shooting a multiple of unknown things could go wrong, a broken cable, messed up sensor and so on. If your glide cam does not work you have physicaly and clearly broken it.

The ability to adjust the height of the gimbal allows for low shots for rails and things like that
