Distending Indulgence

Distending indulgence

swollen and hollow

like a derelict wound

infection soon follows

The mounting bedlam

Within the hearts of many

Vomits forth the discord

Of the pop culture folly

A great pressure imposed

On the collective psyche

To do as TV says

And consume all integrity

Born to service megalomania

On a wicked corporate scale

Seducing lady justice

Ne’re money goes to jail.

Tis the branding god we hail

The puss of societies wounds

bathes and enraptures

those that it captures

drowning in filth whom it swoons

back in the temporary glories

of all the meanderings you buy

temporary relief

for the voids that you hide

distending indulgence

creates our wasting disease

of artificial satisfaction

and total lack of action

to hear our very own pleas

wasted to corpses

and hastened to zombie

still unknowingly fueling

the machine and anomaly

‘till the end,

‘till the bitter end.
