Dislocated shoulder

I just dislocated my shoulder yesterday bailing out of a backscratcher fml. I also in conjunction had a Hell-Sachs fracture. Is any one familiar with this? Has anyone experienced this? How much longer do you think i will be out. I'm hoping not for the season, I'm 16 and just started getting good this year. :/

ive dislocated my right arm once and my left arm 4 times all this season. my right one was really bad and couldnt ski for about 4 weeks. i let it heal right so it wont come out easily, but my left comes out like nothing.
let it heal, but dont let it keep you from shreddin

i feel like everyone is hurting their shoulder these past few days.. i separated mine this weekend..but ya let it heal and take it easy

I post in like every shoulder thread saying the same thing so I will do it here too haha.

Seriously let it heal, and I mean really heal. It will feel fine way before it starts actually healing. I made the mistake of not letting mine heal right and now I am paying the price for it. Mine popped out on time, nothing too bad and I just kept going. Then it started popping out doing little shit like getting dressed. I was supposed to have surgery but they said they wanted me to do physical therapy, so I did it like they said. Today was my first day back out, first run I swung my arm the wrong way and it popped out again.

I know this sounds motherly but I just don't want anyone to have to deal with this shit. It's the worst man. I'll be dealing with this probably for the rest of my life because I didn't let it heal right, so just really be careful. Good luck!

Hit PT, and hit PT hard. Rotator cuff exercises are going to be your best friends for the rest of your life.

Good luck. It's a bitch of an injury.

i can already tell this is going to be a ton of fun. How do the pro's not have these problems and they do tricks so much bigger? This kills me

you're not alone. i hurt my shoulder pretty bad as well this season. it's been 3 weeks and its still killing me, but fortunately arms are not necesary for shredding. i'll try to let it heal this summer i guess.... oh well, no tennis ...

I'm going to see a physiotherapist about my dislocated shoulder in a couple days, and we'll see what they say.
I'll bump this thread with an update once I've gone.

I dislocated my shoulder and couldnt ski for 3 weeks. Let it properly heal so it doesnt come out all the time. It sucks but its better to wait and ski again

Well i had an update from my doctor today. I apparently did some real damage. I have to get an MRI in two weeks and then after that decide wether or not to persue surgery. He said right now though that ther is a 100% likely hood of me dislocating it again and that i will need surgery. And that i wont be able to do any minor sports for a minimum of 6 months after surgery. This is going to suck so bad. FML

Do what I'm doin, take it easy this winter, get surgery as soon as ski season ends. I'm on the east coast so that's like early April. That way, I'll be ready to shred once ski season comes around again. I'm 17 if that helps at all.

whatever happens, afterwords do the physical therapy and strengthen that shoulder by working out.. or itll be coming out all the time

Update Bump:
So I went to see a physiotherapist today, its been 2 weeks since I did it and now I have to wait another 3 weeks before im 100%. Goodbye 5 weeks of ski season. I guess I'll just be doing a lot of rail and trying to look good doing easy tricks lol.
FILMING TIME!

Last April, after 2 years of 100s of dislocations, I had a Bankart repair done arthroscopically. It was terrible, definitely the most intense pain I have ever felt. I stayed in my sling for 10 weeks, then waited until October before starting to do any sort of activity that could jepordize the integrity of my new shoulder. Everything was going well, I was slaying physio and had even fallen with my arm outstretched, but the shoulder held up perfectly. Then came December 31st 2009, I was cruising through some trees, fell into an unmarked mine shaft, and popped the fucker out again, back to square one. I now have to ski in a sling, which isn't really slowing me down, but sucks if I'm skiing super tight trees or hiking or anything. My surgeon says that I'm fucked for life and will have to get a shoulder replacement when I'm 25-30.

I'm just thankful to not be dead at the bottom of a mine shaft, be paralysed, or have a leg/knee injury to prevent me from skiing.

It depends on how badly you dislocated your shoulder. I did mine January 4 and started doing physical therapy a few weeks ago. Ever since i started physical therapy my shoulder has been improving really fast and even though the physical therapist told me no riding for another month, today was my first day back. I took it really easy cause my shoulder still feels weak but it felt good to ski. If you feel good enough then go ski i but you dont wanna re injure it cause that could screw you up for good.
