Dislocated Shoulder???

Has anyone ever had one of these, and if you did how long were you out for... I have one and they said I cant ski for 2-4 weeks

well you are lucky that you got it popped back in in time, if it would have been longer it could have taken a year!

I've had a seperated shoulder, which is basically the same thing. If you tore ligaments, then it should hurt like you're getting pounded by a gorilla on crack, and you'll be in a sling for at least two weeks. Mine still hurts; if you tear ligaments in your shoulder, you'll feel it the rest of your life.

I had a really nasty dislocation back in january of 2000 I got clearance to ski just before spring break in April. Yours doesnt sound as severe. I would reccomend doing a lot of light weight training after you get the use of your arm back to rebuild the muscle tissue around your shoulder. Don't overload on the weights though.

haha...last season first day out i did a monster 180 on this table, overcleared it, landed in the flats, fell forward, and actualy rolled over my arm while it was in the default 'up' position, i got back off and it was hangin off at a weird angle hahaha so i moved it around and it poped back in, and kept skiing, then like 20 minutes later when the shock(??) wore off it started KILLING me, so i went home. the next morning i could barely move it, and it fucking killed for the next few days, but the next weekend i was skiing allright...its never been quite the same tho....like its lower than the other sholder, it comes out every once in awhile but it dosent hurt much, and every once in a blue moon a feel a little twinge when i rotate it wrong but its basicly allright...the only major thing injured is my pride, from then on i'v always had a little fear of 180's, it tramautized me or somthing lol anyone else ever experieneced somthing like that?

Yeah dude I dislocated my shoulder Feb. 2000 and it was pretty bad. It was out for like 3 hours and they had to put me under to put it back in. Turned out it completely demolished my rotator cuff and other parts of the shoulder. I couldn't ski the rest of the season and I had surgery in June. Get it checked out because if you did enough damage you'll need to have it fixed up otherwise it'll start to come out all the time. Once that happens you are fucked cause you'll have to get reconstructive surgery and that can just suck. NOW my shoulder is stronger than it was before. Lift weights to get your muscles strong in the shoulder area. The stronger they are the better they will hold in your shoulder. later

anybody else ever got hurt doin somthin and then had like a mini phobia of it afterwards?

Dave Pauls dislocated his sholder last year (did a Baranni, stomped the landing, skiing down the landing switch, about to go back to forward and catches an edge - slams right onto his sholder) and was suposed to be out for a few months, but with the pins and shit still in his sholder he went out and entered a Skiercross competition. he fell at the finish line and gave himself a concusion...but at least he won the skiercross.

I've dislocated both of my collar bones. And jammed both of my rotater cuffs. I have tendonitis in my right shoulder and have somethign else going on in my left. I can barely hold my arms above my head for any period of time. I was put on a strength training program and am in physio for it. And none of my shoulders injuries came from skiin.. I highly suggest that you dont play girls soccer we are very very evil.
