Dislocated elbow

Anyone else?

I dislocated my elbow about a month and a half ago in track accident, it's super rare and 6-8 from 100 000 people dislocate elbow.

it was two weeks in a cast and three weeks in rehab without weight.

Now yesterday i got the permission to start doing some light weight training to it.

The biggest thing in dislocation is the movement range of the elbow. It has been three weeks and it doesnt go stairght yet. The doctor said that it might be even a year to full movement range.

Has anyone else had something like this? how long was the rehab? how's it doing now? Thanks!

Something like this happened to me when I was younger, I was doing a dub on a trampoline and landed on my arm weird.. Horrible feeling and hope u heal up soon

I fractured my elbow in a longboarding crash last summer. It took about 6 months to recover from when it happened till I felt completely normal again. I went to pt for about a month and then I was cleared for normal activities. It still took me another two months to actually feel like it was a 100 percent but that could have been because I was babying it.

Honestly, Just do everything they say to do. And don't take short cuts. Rest when you need to and work on it when you need to. The hardest part was regaining range of motion even though it was a fracture.

And make sure you don't fall asleep with your arm in a weird position. I did that towards what should have been the end of my recovery and my range of motion actually decreases. A lot of things became painful for like 2 weeks that I could do no problem before so yeah try not to do that. I hope your recovery goes smoothly and you're back to normal in no time!

i work as a HS AT, have seen 4 elbow dx in 5 years. not that uncommon. but sucks none the less. watch out for the FOOSH.

a bit old bumb

What kind of exercises did you do?

I know that you should always listen to the doctors but they just said that do whatever doesn't hurt :/

So did you do some special exercises to that? Thanks!

Lots of curl up exercises. Also, I have a pool and I would do short strokes and progressively get more range in them. Pt wasn't very extensive. I basically only did curl ups. Also other weird things that I don't know how to describe haha. You can use your good arm as a resistor for curl ups if you don't have anything. Once you get more strength with that you can move on to like push up body positions and just hold it. Put more weight on your good arm. But over time you can put more and more weight on your injured arm.

Shit, I can't really think of what I did. I'll try to respond with some more tomorrow. I'm too tired to think and formulate sentences right now. Haha
