DIN setting too high?

hey i got some new fishcer twin tips and im messing around with the DIN settings because they were preset to 1 before (fisher bindings to)

idk if this is important but ill say it anyways

weight- 120 lbs

hieght - 5'5

they are currently set at 8 but idk if im gonna break my ankles or something

my old skis were set at 4 and they never fell off when i did spins off jumps but friends are set at 10-11 and they fall off frequently

thanks

If they don't come off when you don't think they should, you're good to go. Just start at where you were before, and if you have problems tighten them .5-1 at a time until you're staying in when you should be.

im going on the assumption that ur a level 3 skier with a smaller foot around an 8 since your a smaller guy, so if your bsl is between 291-310 your din should be a 5.25

your ankles could get messed up but when your dins are to high, your knees are what gets most messed up, torn acl or mcl blown knees and so on....dont fall in to the ns trap and think its cool to claim your how high your dins are

well since im an (un)licensed ski technician, im going to say a 22 din setting is pretty good.

but what do i know?

the way most pros figure out their DIN is by dividing their weight by 10. Personally i weigh 180 lbs and so i ride at a 18 din. Always remember that the the better the skier the higher their DIN must be!

or if he likes his knees

im reallyyyy hoping you're being sarcastic.

if i remember correctly seth skis with his din at 13.

you arent better than seth.

8 is pretty high mine are at 6 and i'm 5'9 125 pounds set at level three and i have never had my skis pre-release personaly i would rather have a ski prerelease then blow out my knees.

im 5 10, 150 pounds and i ski at 9 haha

do what the chart says as a starting point though, my height and weight with my boot sole would have me at a 5. which i would ski out of.

Keep it where it is, if you eject when you dont think you should be tighten them up a bit. If you take some gnarly falls and they dont eject, consider dropping them some.

im a cetrifed ski tech and you should be a 5.5 or a 5.25 but i ski with my din higher just because i only want my skis releasing in bad situation not just akward landings

Personally, I am 5'1" and 95lbs and max out my Tyrolia Peak 18s. Imagine when you get a trip misty 16, and your grab is too hard and you pull your ski off in mid air and don't stick it because of that and die. That is my arguement.

Thomas(Mrst skier or something) was set at 23 on Marker comp 30s and blew his knee. Probably about 140lbs at the time? The surgery fixed his osgood schlauters somehow too, so I'm thinking of just setting those to 30 and skiing off of gods wall and landing front seat, which will also make me better than jamie pierre.

FYI: DIN isn't the only setting you have to adjust on new skis!

You also need to make sure the forward pressure is set correctly as well or you will prerelease/not release properly. Lots of people think that their prereleasing issues are caused by their DIN setting being too low, but a lot of the time its because the FP isn't right and the boot isn't held in properly.

Ya im 6'3 185 and I ride at 14...Its all personal preference...you just have to test ou thow they feel..like stated previously

Really I'm the same height a little lighter and I got set at a 9.5 in store with level 3+ skiing the tech was a coach of mine. I put it down to 8 cos they're my play skis.

look at the chart up there

unless i fucked up, 5 10, 150 with a 315mm boot sole is like 5.

i dont really understand what your saying... im at 9, your at 8..

unless your agreeing and i missed it, then my bad, i just dont see what your trying to say, sorry

I'm saying that the shops chart put me at 9.5 and I weigh less than you, it's weird.

I put ti down because that's too high for me.

Go into your local and figure it out...
Its all trial and error.
I have PX18s and set on 13 front 14 back.... im 150Ibs and 5ft7
But im a big mountain rider....
And before anyone comments..... They are set up properly to my boot... and if i have them any lower they do come off.
But yer just befriend a GOOD tech guy andhave a bit of trial and error
only put it up if you have problems.
