Difference's between bindings?

ok, so i have old fks' which i cant use because i broke the brakes and my shop wont warrenty them or order a new base plate. so i was wondering if the brake system was different between the old look pivots and the modern day pivot heel piece.

so the difference between these:

OG Pivots and the new 'Pivots' aka FKSs use different brakes. The old pivots heel only turns about 120 degrees, while the new pivots/FKSs have the full rotation of 360 degrees. Different baseplates and different brakes and mounting system.
 
so if i broke the brakes on the older version of the pivots, i wouldnt have to get a new base plate, i could just take off that pair of brakes and go brakeless?
 
The brakes on those bindings (the ones pictured) are able to be taken off just like a normal brake. But, it is quite difficult to find those brakes since those bindings haven't been made for a few years now.
 
Not quite... There's OG OG OLD OLD Pivots, the parts are all interchangeable with the new ones, I put the brakes off some maybe 15 year old skis I got at the city dump on my brand new FKS after they shipped me the wrong size brakes... this is the ones with the full 360 heel and the adjustable bars on the heel.

This type got discontinued and then they went to the 120 degree heel binding with the solid heel bars, as pictured. A lot of parts from these interchange with Look PXs, pretty sure the brake included, but that doesn't help you.

Then there's the new Pivot, which is actually the old old Pivot... if you can find some of these, you can use those brakes. Or you can tell your shop to stop being dicks and order you a pair of brakes from Rossi/Look, they fit right up, it's just a pain because you have to unmount the bindings. See the Ski Maintenance sticky at the top of this forum, it has a vid on how to do it. ORRRR go search all your local ski swaps/thrift stores/city dumps for a pair of the super oldschool ones and take the brakes off them.
 
Word word, I always called the old FKSs FKXs as thats what was printed on them.

And the px brakes definitely do not work on the pivots as posted by the op.
