Did you hit your first rail in the backyard or on the mountain?

I built a pretty sweet backyard setup, before even knowing how to grind rails. I never had a ton of time on snow back then so I didn't get to practice much. Once I had the backyard setup I just went at it for a while, and that's pretty much how I've learned all of my rail tricks.

Edit: Backyard, my friend and I used my neighbours ladder, that was the very first time I tried to hit a rail.

I hit my first rail in the park. I first hit it with my skis and quickly proceeded to hit it with my hip followed by my shoulder and finally my head. It continued to mock me as I skied past it for the remainder of the day...

Backyard. But it didn’t really matter as I forgot how to hit rails by the time I got to the park, so I learned it again there.

Backyard. Though looking back I think the park would have been a safer option. We had a sketchy set up

I’m really surprised how many people have said backyard. I’m surprised people would set up a backyard setup for something they haven’t done

Me and my sister hiked a nice fat tube (both of us with downhill skis mounted like all the way back) for like 2 hours in the park. Not to mention there was a group of park rats sitting on a bench in the back chewing tobacco and literally laughing at us (not that we really gave a shit). Was a good time.

in the skatepark on blades. So much easier when you can learn to do it by stalling on the ledge, then hitting it at faster and faster speeds
