we place the jig on by hand and we line it up with the mark on the skis. we definitely do our best to be perfect, and unfortunately there are little punk kids that think they know more than us and in this case, its 3mm... lets be realistic here, its 3mm on a ski.. its not like its the endeavor that being 3mm off on a door seal will cause it to crash.. its only a ski and you are measuring tip to tail. probably not even measuring the actual effective edge. is it a true twin? most skis, the tail does not rise as much as the tip, so it is possible that you are fine with effective running edge of the ski and not overall length.
take your skis and hike your local rail and be happy. its not like you are going to ski at a speed or ability level to even notice the different. Your skis will ski retarded after a day of your favorite 270s on and switch ups anyways
