Diagnose My Knee!

I have an appointment tuesday, I am going to the doctor, right on, I know a lot of you have had your share of knee injuries, wondering that the damage of mine is.
I slammed on my side off a jump, no swelling till the next day, hurts when I press of the sides of my knee, when I try to straighten it all the way, or when I try to bend it back all the way. Didn't hear a defined pop, although I may have..... Tried to ski down afterwards, and my knee pretty much gave out, and was all wobbly and jelly, I can walk fairly well, I can feel it clicking when I take a step?
Anyone had a similar experience?

knee herpies, jk, but in all honesty you probably just hit a muscle or tendon and its swelling and sensitive

I tore my acl and meniscus earlier this season and can relate exactly to your symptoms i could still walk but it felt very unstable. however i actually heard a pop on mine. If the sides are what hurt it is probably your mcl or lcl

if its in the middle its probably your acl or lcl

my money is on ACL or MENISCUS

I've actually had similar. but it was just bruising. I didn't have the clicking though and swelled up pretty much right after. maybe it's just bruising

sides it would most likely meiscus ethier medial or lateral (inside or outside) or ur mcl and lcl

I tore my ACL and a tiny bit of my meniscus this year and it sounds pretty similar. It hurt pretty bad for me to walk the first couple days though and it swelled a lot.. Ice it! That's my best advice. Goodluck

lol thank you for explaining medial and lateral

an acl would blow up immediately, im gonna choose the darkhorse and say PCL. lets get a little pool going here

i tore my ACL and it felt exactly like what you're describing, I'd put my money on an ACL tear and some miniscus damage based on the "pain on the sides"

I hurt the side of my knee this year and could only ski on pain pills but it was super tight behind my knee and would pop sometimes so I need to go to the doctor soon so they can check it out.

You may have tog et an MRI if nothing shows up on the X-Ray cause from your description it could be a torn meniscus or ligament damage. I don't think you damaged the bone

same. in the condition you're in, you're a ticking bomb until your meniscus gives out and you cant walk, be really careful

i partially tore my meniscus, that hurt down the sides of my knee

or it could be bruising in the middle of the knee across the tibia plateau

My guess: partially torn meniscus ("bucket handle" tear) with bone bruising.

Try to go to a knee specialist, not just a general orthopedic guy. Ask a lot of questions. Good luck.

NS should keep tabs on who is best at diagnosing injuries. Make it into a contest.

That sounds EXACTLY like me.

EXACTLY.

Originally the doctor said that I had just strained my hamstrings.

After a few more weeks of swelling I ended up having an MRI which revealed I had completely blown out my ACL. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK. I'm having surgery mid June.

Anywho that's my diagnosis.

My bet seeing as how I've torn just about everything in my knee is partial tear to the acl and Poss meniscus tear. Usually when it want to give out at the straight leg position u have some type of acl issue. The dr will prolly refer u to an ortho that dr will either do an MRI or maybe some manual manipulations to see how much play there is in the joint. He will bend ur knee at a 90 degree angle and pull out laterally and forward to feel for any play if there is play u have torn something. Good luck.
