DFD length

I'm looking to make a DFD for the backyard setup, but I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to the lengths of each segment. Does anybody know what the measurements of an average DFD are?

Usually too big for a backyard, around 20-40 feet. But linking two 10ft flat rails and a short up section will do the trick. That's what I've done.

We have plenty of 10ft pipes and a couple 8's and 6's.

Put the shortest at the top?

just made a fdf for my backyard setup and it works alright. its an 8ft flat 4ft down 8ft flat

Yeah man, 6 is a bit short, and your probably gunna have to trim it a little anyway. so I agree with ^.

Don't go shorter than 8 on the downs. Honestly 10's the shortest I'd want to go. Obviously you can't always get what you want in backyard but just remember everything sounds bigger than it is.

In theory a 6'3'6' dfd doesn't sound that bad. But if you saw one and tried to hit it you'd be like WUTTTTTTTTT

I like em long and mellow, super greasy and trickable. Do whatever you want though.

Request delivered!! Thanks man. The down might be a little steep but wouldn't that only make you better/more versatile in the long run...prolly

Depends. Yes and no. If it's too steep and not functional it'll be a struggle to ride, a mellower dfd might be easier but you may have problems learning tricks.

Most mountains roll with 15 degrees on DFD's. Below is considered mellow, above is considered steep. I wouldn't recommend going above 20 or you start to get into the death zone. My personal favorite is 12/12.5. That said I like them longer as well. On those you can really hit them fast, you definitely still feel the kink but they slide easier and smoother than shorter steeper ones. If you're limited on length that might not work as well.

If you're curious what angle you're at and don't have anything to help you. You can throw a level on the first down and set it flat, then measure the height of the rise of the flat which would be up at that point. You can figure it out within a half a degree pretty easily without taking much time.

It's easy to go too steep. Everything looks/sounds mellower than it is sometimes.

IF you're under 20 it's probably fine, if you're 30+ well, good luck.

fdf are definitely more ideal for backyard setups, however if u do really want a dfd then makes sure each piece is atleast almost 8ft.
