Detroit

Honestly, can we get someone to shoot urban in detroit. There are so many awsome abandoned brick buildings. Nobody has every shot in detroit (except maybe some guns). There are an unlimited amount of unreal features. Downtown detroit has some damn great scenery, such as being able to see canada over the river, that would make a ski film look sick. Come on all you Kyle Deckers and Josh Bermans out there. Be the first, I would love to see it.

Mentally ill from Amityville"We don't call it Detroit, we call it Amityville,

You can get capped after just having a cavity filled,

That's why we're crowned the murder capital still!"-Marshall Mathers

This thread has epic potential. I can't imagine the police would do too much to stop you though; there are way bigger problems in Detroit.

agree with you OP. I was just in michigan visiting my family, and I passed through detroit. And saw so many hand rails that were ski-able

Griffin, Some of us at BCS have Banshee Bungies. 2 people live down in the condos next to the renaissance building. It is being discussed, mainly for snowboarding, but it is happening this year.

I find it funny that Detroit still has a bad reputation. If someone wanted to shoot urban here you probably wouldn't be bothered. I'd love to see someone hit the rails at the joe. Fucking epic kink rail.

already on it...2 week urban trip to detroit this winter. snow isnt always the best east side of the state tho.

everyone else stay away haha....

We plan on staying on the outskirts of detroit tho, not downtown. dont trust thousands of dollars of equipment there

This. Its not a bad city if don't venture to the wrong sides. The people that still live down there are some of the nicest people ive ever met.

Also, Someone should hit some of the handrails out side of the joe. It would be legendary.

These Joe rails?

I came.

Im pretty sure more than half of the the white suburban kids that ski would cry if they set foot in the lower east side of detroit. Obviously no one would bother you when I visit my family who lives there you wont see one person on the street n if you do theyre slanging rocks because thats how they make their living. You could easily get robbed for camera gear though

I like Detroit, seriously. Yes, it's a place that has been battered for the last 60 years, a lot of the city is in a beautiful state of ruin, but things are getting better there. Despite its troubles, Detroiters are one optimistic lot, and yes, the glass is half full. The auto industry is showing clear signs of revival, the sports teams are doing well, and downtown is pretty active and healthy these days.

And for urban shooting, I would guess that there are plenty of nifty places with surreal backdrops. If you're in a small or large group, the city is pretty safe, although undeniably creepy in places. Try the neighborhood around City Airport for real post-apocalyptic Detroit, same with Brush Park and the old Packard factory on Grand.

I love Detroit, live outside of it and am proud. I plan on making a few trips downtown this season with a couple people and do some shooting. Hopefully will get a nice edit or so out of it! :)

@ Vanmelle you are a whole lot safer downtown than you are in say highland park or hamtramck. Granted i do live in the suburbs, but in 10 years of visiting detroit i have yet to have a problem, just stay away from the bad neighborhoods and focus on downtown and you guys will be golden, there is some sweet scenery and some awesome rails to hit. I really wanna see how this turns out!

this. it would be like the jamal the urban coach type stuff. i saw a edit with some ghetto folk watching in amazement of some kids hitting a rail. Did you guys see the trailer for weight? although i must admit camera gear might be a mugging waiting to happen

level 1 got their multi-thousand dollar camera jacked in a drive-by theft in fucking minnesota or something, good luck in detroit

ya im not really worried, we will shoot in the day time a lot and only the safer spots at night. We should have at least 4-5 people and be around the cameras a lot. I just thought the same as the OP. Detroit has a lot of potential and it has great scenery for a backdrop.

I live in one of the weirdest most fun communities in the world. My phone number has a 313 area code yet i live in one of the nicest neighborhoods in michigan called Grosse Pointe. This are is located just north of down town on lake st. clair and was built by the auto execs. I live in one of the whitest census tracts world wide 99% white and 1% Hispanic even though i am maybe 3 miles from the D. Me and my friends go down there and screw around a lot since no one will bother you and the police have better things to do. If you know where not to go you will be perfectly safe. There are lots of amazing handrails and features with even better backdrops that would be amazing in movies.

If any of you want me to show you around just let me know

if b and e really want to prove to the world they are true thugs and part of wu tang they must hit urban in detroit and survive it and come out with some dirty shots

hamtramck is fantastic- it's by no means affluent, but you really have the world in such a small community. highland park is on the scary side, though.

try the delray neighborhood if you want a real ghost town (southwest dtw, between I-75 and the river).

Going downtown with a friend or two right after school to scope some spots out that I've got in mind! Possibly heading down again later this coming weekend.

Surprised AR6 isnt in here talking about his beloved michigan.

Also detroit, may be run down. But that poses some sick backdrops for urban. and they also have sick spots! would love to see what would come out of this.

FUCK YES GROSSE PT. REPRESENT, not really i grew up a block over in the much much much more middle class part...but still.Well I live in TN and will be roadtripping to see my bro and some old friends in the dirty D here in a few weeks, I am only giving this offer once...I bring my skis a collect bunch of Detroit NS'ers pound in some urban footy and eat friend bologne sandwiches all damn night long like the true thugs we are..

But seriously if anyone wants to hit urban in a few weeks I am more than down, snow is even projected in the forecast

Lets turn this thread into a thread of detroit jokes!

Did you hear? Level 1's camera crew got jumped! their camera fed half the city for a year!
