I guess I'm not sure, the website said today. Maybe they got an early opportunity.

please update this thread with what the park looks like or anything else that's really fun out there. I might head up for christmas

Rumor has it that their main park won't open up till Dec 21. All they had up today was two janky rails on the bunny hill. You read that correctly, the bunny hill. At this point I don't know what they'll have up during break. I'll update the thread as I'm able.

What type of rails were they and how long?

Both were steel pipe. Probably 15 ft long on the first one, flat. Second was a flat down, both probably 10 ft.

Sticky? Smooth? Average? Trashy? Quality?

They were your average pipe, but pretty slick. Whoever built the lips didn't know what they were doing. Hopefully that won't be the case in the main park.

I think im headed there on Sunday. Anyone got any news on the current park?

Not me, I might be able to go on Saturday and will report back if I do. This warm weather sure isn't helping anything.

Update

There is NO park set up. They have the tiers groomed so there are some great rollers to butter off of but no jumps or rails are set up.

The snowboarders have been cutting in side booters to the rollers but they pretty much suck.

However, the good news is that all the runs are open including the "steeps". If you enjoy relatively steep (for MN) runs then they have two decent ones open. You get to them by going up the main lift and they'll be off to the left towards the top.

I've been primarily hitting those two runs all morning. Also the grooming is atrocious but I blame that to the freezing and thawing overnight. There are some big ruts (no dirt showing). Hopefully they'll groom those out by tomorrow.

Any more questions leave them in here.

Keep the stoke!

I should include that there is still a good base down. There are thin spots here and there but overall they have enough snow to combat this warm spell.

One more thing

Kari Herman is going to be here on Saturday, December 20th. She's doing a ski/snowboard clinic, sharing her time at and the road to the Olympics, and meet and greet stuff. That's starting at 2:30pm.

Pretty cool deal, I'm going to try to come if I don't work.

How did Detroit Mountain get a hold of Keri Herman? That's my question. Anyways, I really hope they get some sort of park up soon.

Not sure but she is a Minnesota native. That probably had something to do with it.

Grand opening of the park is this weekend. Keri's doing an exhibition on it.

That's right.... I feel so ashamed that I forgot about that. I want to play s.k.a.t.e. with her just so she can kick my ass. That's how I feel right about now.

I'm going to be there on the 26th for Christmas with my family, current update on the park? I would really like to see the setup

I won't be able to go there till after Christmas sometime so I got no info for ya.

Check out their Facebook page and website for updates. Don't be afraid to give them a call too.

That looks on point.

that super long rainbow tube on the spine... one could hit that for hours and hit it a different way each time. sometimes it sucks living in the cities....

I just saw a sign on their fb page from the park that says they don't allow inverts....wat, why? I assume for liability but that's kinda lame.

Oh well, I have more fun on rails anyway.

The main lift and the tow rope were not even working until 2ish... Not impressed secondly whenever the two rope stopped, the rope fell off of the wheel and took 30 minutes for them to get it back on(this happened 3 times) so I probably went on a bad day but the park was fun and yes that spine rainbow rail was so much fun when you greased it, but two of their tails were made of plastic, they slid great but I've never felt a plastic rail quite like them

I'll be going to school in January at ndscs. Aka Breckinridge/whapeton so I'm bound to make a few trips to check it out.

Anyone going to be there on Saturday? I'm going to be doing some filming for a class so if you want me to film you hit me up!

How big are the jumps in their jump line there?

I haven't been able to go out there for a month so I can't remember exactly. I think the largest is a 15-20ft table. The two further up are gradually smaller.

Ahhhh man I thought they were bigger. At least they look really smooth

I saw they had a freestyle clinic there. I'm wondering if anyone from here coached it. Anyways, I REALLY want to lap that jump line really badly, it looks buttery smooth and has a rope. Problem is that I live down in the cities...

Is anybody going to be up there tomorrow? Would love to have some buddies to compete alongside in the rail jam, I'm coming up from south Dakota because our local hill closed down without a proper sendoff lol
