The other thread didn't go into much detail so i guess here it is

Dspong was at booters bash in california shooting with rage films. apparantly yesterday there was a big gap and he was going to gunnea it. he came up short breaking 3 or 4 ribs, did something to his spleen (his bro said they wern't sure)He also ripped 2 out of 3 layers of the aorta...for those of you that don't know what that is, its the pump to your heart and basically if you tear all 3 your dead. Dspong had heart surgery yesterday, I'm not exactly sure what Evan (his bro) told me if there was a 90% chance of him being paralyzed, i was in to much shock to even remember. I was lucky enough to talk to derek not long after he got out of surgery and he sounded great for the condition's he was in.

Dspong, your the man bro, stay strong!

I'm hopeing i'll talk to him again tonight so i can give another little update. wish him the best!

Wow, that's intense. You'll pull through Derek, no doubt in my mind man. Make a fast and full recovery, my thoughts are with you.
 
still so shocked thsi happened and definetly by far the least person to deser ve to get hurt. im definetly really bummed an sad about it and best wishes on a speedy recovery

DDDD!!! Im sorry, I felt sooo sad and shocked when i heard. Your such a tooper!!! what you had and are going though it unimaginable. Im so glad that you are still here and it wasnt worse. when you hit a stationary object fast enough, your internal organs get hurled at the inside wall of your body, in this case, his heart was probably thrown at his chest wall at the speed he was traveling while in the air. his inertia when he hit whatever he hit, was channeled through his internal organs, which hit his chest wall, and were stopped by that, but probably in turn helped to break some ribs. i dont know if you have ever felt a heard in bio class or whatever, but its certainly not light by any means, so imagine being hit in the ribs at a high speed with a heart full of blood, it will cause damage.
 
man that sucks so hard, derek is awesome. one of my fav young skiers out there, hope he gets better. it seems like everyone is getting injured lately, i think people need to take it a little easy.
