Demo skis

So i bought some 2020 SFB demo skis and never fully inspected them until recently.

I decided I wanted to take off the marker griffon demo bindings and mount up some 22 designs outlaw x tele bindings. I took the demo plate off for the first time and found 25 HOLES in each ski from various mounts!!

heres a picture

This made me kinda mad because I would need to be super careful in mounting those tele bindings so they won’t rip out, and I dont have the mount point options I was anticipating, instead I only have 1 option of where to mount them.

is this common on most demo skis? I got these for a good deal so i dont regret it but it is a shame to have only one option for mounting the tele bindings.

oh well. I guess you get what you pay for

I would be careful mounting a tele bindig on those. Compared to a traditional alpine binding, tele adds a lot more twisting for to the mount point as its only at the toe instead at both ends of the foot. Already having multiple mounts that may or may not have leaked in some moisture makes this more unstable yet.

Yeah, i’m going to take it to a friend of mine thats pretty knowledgeable in tele binding mounts. He can decide if it should be mounted or not.

I'd heli coil the living shit out of them and you should be good to go. The structural integrity of the ski may be slightly compromised but I'd go with it

I want to swap those bindings between skis though and i think those are for permanent mounts.

i think quiver killer makes a rescue insert that can still work with swapping bindings so i might do that

Id start out with the regular quiver killers and if those rip out then you can toss in a rescue insert

Usually demo skis have just one mount for demo bindings. Those demo bindings were the third mount? Can I ask where you bought them? Was it any of the big online retailers that typically move a lot of demo skis in the spring?

It was some ski shop in seattle. They seemed to be selling off all of their demo fleet

It’s been a hot minute since I mounted them or looked at the mounting pattern, but the hole at the top in the middle makes me inclined to believe they had shifts on them, then another pair of bindings and then the pair you had on them when you received them.

Yeah i was thinkin shifts too. Maybe the other mounts were my bindings in different mount points though. Not sure

There's no reason to move demo bindings though...that's the one good thing about them.
