Searchbarred and couldnt find much...

so i just picked up a pair of next years one lives with demo bindings from the surface sale. What are the benefits of switching to a regular binding? is it worth drilling more holes? the demos are tyrolla SP 120's, which look pretty nice as far as demo bindings. Also, how much would i need to spend on a new binding to see a difference in preformance from these. Thanks!!! +K to good answers

discard. demo bindings aren't nearly as strong as a flat mount binding. if you want the skis to perform better i recommend putting some light bindings on them.

I would keep them on there. Ride them untill they break. They are a good binding just slightly heavier then a non demo version. There is no point taking them off and drilling more holes when you dont have too. Also remember light bindings do not usally mean strong bindings, look at the STH 16 steel, heavy but will prob never break.

You just contradicted yourself in that last part.

Demo's are heavier, more parts to break, more ways for something to fail. If you have a history of breaking bindings, ditch them and remount, otherwise ride them till you break them.

What do you mean?

I was referning to the post above that said put something light on the skis. Light bindings are genrally not as strong. So if he was to replace the bindings do not go for somthing light weight. Any binding will probably be lighter then a demo binding.

Demo bindings are heavier then a standard binding that is true, I was just saying that going for a light weight binding wont be much better in the long run.

Demo Jesters/Griffins are way, way better than conventional demo bindings - they basically work like a normal binding (at least for the heel) just with a really long track.Standard plate/lifter style demo bindings tend to be relatively weak in the track system that lets them move. My friend was tearing down a groomer on some demo skis, hit a little bump and tore both the heel pieces off the tracks. Mind you he's a pretty big guy and they were ultra-shit bindings (Marker M12 Demo I believe)
