Demanding all dorm dwelling shredders

Quick q. Where do you guys wax and scrap while living a dorm? Any tips or tricks are appreciated. Ill be a freshman so yeah.

Take it easy

when I lived in a dorm I tried to do it in my dorm. The fire alarm went off and my whole floor hated me for making the hall smell like shit.

I ended up being able to do it right outside my dorm where there were outlets on the wall. It wasn't ideal.

i just did it on my desk. open the window and it was never an issue. if i was doing ptex stuff (burns more and smells like shit) i would just turn on the fan blowing towards the window and it was fine. just clean up the scrapings so your roommate doesnt get mad

I'm going to be a freshman next year as well and I have to admit I never gave this any thought. Hopefully there are some outlets outside.

outside is probably best. invest in an extension cord and some collapsable sawhorses for a makeshift workbench.

Inside works fine as long as you have a hard wood floor or put newspapers or boxes down to collect the wax. I usually just used 2 chairs as a waxing station and went from there. But beware when Ptexing that stuff smells like crap and can set off a fire alarm quickly, like said before use a fan to blow the smoke out of a window.

Outside, its a pretty decent fine if there are wax scrapings on the floor in the hall. Unless your RA's are bomb as fuck and dont care if you go into the kitchen. id say outside or in your room with the winder open is your best bet. Hope this helps fam.

Should have probably mentioned windows did not open in my dorm.

we always did it in the common room, but one of the ski clubs here has a free waxing party twice during the season at the dining hall

I always waxed mine in my room when my roommates weren't home and just cleaned everything up when I was done. They never minded because our room always smelled fantastic afterwards.

Our ski club(Schuss) hooks everyone up with free waxes for the season through the shop that we work with too. Schuss has 2 "Ski mechanics" events during the season, once before the season starts and then once before our excursion out west every year. Basically it's free waxing and edge sharpening for all skiers and snowboarders so it's pretty cool!

Shower rooms is a good bet, cleaning up is easy since it's either tiled or lino and there's a fan which is helpful if your using waxes with more noxious chemicals in.

My roommate and I used a box with a slot cut in it for the binding to sit in to hold our skis while waxing freshman year, just did it right in our dorm room. Then we would scrape em outside. Also a note, someone said something about setting off a fire alarm? If you set off a fire alarm it means your wax is smoking which means you're doing it wrong and burning your bases. If done correctly no smoke, no fire alarm, no problems.

My school has a gear house that has a room for waxing and fixing bases, but I just go outside. Find something to put your skis on, its pretty easy as long as you have an outlet or an extension chord.
